Do we need to add Orlando to the list of teams maybe interested in Allen Iverson?
No need to go that far, but with today’s news that Jameer Nelson will miss the next four to six weeks following surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, the Magic are suddenly thin at point guard. Jason Williams is expected to fill-in as the starter while Jameer is out. Read More »
Anybody that will be in the Dallas area this weekend needs to make a stop at the new House of Hoops Grand Opening this Saturday, November 21. The event will take place between 4-6 p.m. at the Town East Center. Shawn Marion will be on hand as will some of Dallas’ top high school ballers. This past Saturday, Cat Daddy from K104 came to the store’s soft opening with DJ Sallis on the turntables giving away HOH gift certificates as prizes to some of the contests he hosted including: trivia, shooting contests and random contests like who has $1.04 in change, with only pennies, nickels and dimes. The Lebron VIIs were also hot seller – especially in the exclusive colorway for Foot Locker. Both Cat Daddy and DJ Sallis will be back for the Grand Opening.
Now that Stephen Jackson is gone, Monta Ellis is the last defensive presence on the Warriors. Well, according to Monta Ellis anyway. In an interview today with Marcus Thompson II of the Contra Costa Times, Ellis not only said that nobody on the Warriors besides him can play D, but he also said he doesn’t plan on taking on more responsibility or being more vocal now that Jackson is gone. Asked about whether his new teammate Raja Bell was a good defender, Ellis offered this, “I don’t know too much about dude. I mean (pause) it’s crazy, man.”

What a difference a year makes. After replacing the disgraced Stephon Marbury last year, Chris Duhon was looking like the stable point guard the New York Knicks had been missing all those years. Critics raved about how well he fit in with Mike D’Antoni’s run-and-gun offense and there was even a point last season when people were talking about Duhon potentially being an All-Star. Through 10 games, the Knicks were at 6-4 and Duhon was averaging 9 ppg and 7.4 assists. Just 365 days later, the Knicks are 1-9 and Duhon has been by far the team’s the biggest disappointment. While struggling to understand why Matt Harpring was analyzing game tape on NBA TV this past weekend, it got me thinking about the Utah Jazz. Being from Denver, I don’t normally enjoy publicly praising Utah for any of their success. Still, credit due when credit earned. While Brandon Jennings and Ty “Mbenga Banga” Lawson are undoubtedly on top of the PG rookie heap right now, Jazz rook Eric Maynor is right behind them. Read More »
Understand that six days out of seven, I’d rather watch college basketball than the NBA; that I’ve been a Georgetown fan since I was a kid; and as a West Coast native, I’m both loyal and defensive when it comes to the Pac-10.
Also understand that I’m far from an expert at the X’s and O’s of basketball. I don’t run plays on NBA 2K10, and I would never coach at any level beyond the littlest of Little League. The kids deserve better.
That said, even I found myself wondering W-exactly-TF Ben Howland was doing in the latter stages of UCLA’s loss to Cal State-Fullerton last night. Read More »
Beast of the Night:Dirk Nowitzkinot only hit the game-winner in Milwaukee last night, he also finished with 32 points, 1 three, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 block while shooting 48 percent (12-25) from the field, 88 percent (7-8) from the line and didn’t have any turnovers. He’s the hottest fantasy commodity to come out of Germany since Heidi Klum. Read More »
I can hear it now: With the No. 1 pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, the New Jersey Nets select John Wall from the University of Kentucky. Sorry Kenny Hayes, but despite your bomb from the parking lot to tie it, Wall had the last say.
Stephen Jackson finally got his wish. After enduring nearly two-and-a-half months of negative press for his trade demand, he was dealt to the Charlotte Bobcats yesterday. Almost immediately, you could already see Captain Jackson having a couple of issues with his new destination. One, the winning situation in Charlotte is not too much better than where he came from. And two, he’s going to be coached by Larry Brown. Read More »
