Carl Landry Pays Homage To Dikembe Mutombo

This is just great. In a game against the Grizzlies last night, Carl Landry rejected Rudy Gay’s weak dunk attempt. After blocking the shot, Landry turned to former teammate Dikembe Mutombo, who was in the crowd, and honored him by wagging his finger. As you all know, that was Mt. Mutombo’s signature move after he got a big block. The best part of this video was watching Mutombo’s reaction.

Reebok Still Talkin’ Quote of the Day- 11.12

Reebok Still Talkin'

Yesterday I said that the Orlando/Cleveland showdown would give us plenty of trash talk for today’s Reebok Still Talkin Quote of the Day. Well Shaq chose not to speak to media after the game (eliminating any Dwight Howard references) and the rest of the Cavaliers didn’t offer much. However Shaq’s main man, the Master of Panic, Stan Van Gundy didn’t hold back and took a shot at his starting point guard Jameer Nelson and a subtle shot at three other NBA starting point guards. The surprise contender in the West (and it’s not Phoenix)

Dirk Nowitzki

Going into this season, I honestly didn’t see much in store for the Dallas Mavericks. When we were putting together Dime’s NBA season preview for issue #53, one of my write-ups left on the cutting room floor was titled, “Last Chance Workout,” focusing on the Mavs. And while my Dallas team preview on this site put their ceiling at Western Conference Finals, I was thinking their destination was closer to the basement: “Quiet first-round exit.” Read More »

Breaking News: New Orleans Hornets Fire Byron Scott

Apparently Byron Scott’s time has run out.

According to ESPN, the New Orleans Hornets have fired Scott. The decision was made after last night’s embarrassing loss to the Phoenix Suns. The official announcement is expected to be made later today.

Twice, Scott coached in the NBA Finals when he was with the New Jersey Nets. Under Scott, the Hornets were 221-216 and in 2008, compiled 56 wins and a Western Conference semi finals berth. But this season, the Hornets have managed only 3 wins and 6 losses.

Michael Jordan & Dwyane Wade Unveil The Air Jordan 2010

Michael Jordan & Dwyane Wade

Jordan Brand knows how to do it big. After arriving in Miami and being taken to the Fontainebleau in Miami Beach, we hopped on a yacht from the hotel to an undisclosed location somewhere in the heart of Miami. White walls, red mood lighting and the portraits on the walls were closeups of the next shoe in the legendary Air Jordan line: the Air Jordan 2010. Read More »

Washington Wizards sign Earl Boykins

Earl Boykins

Desperately needing depth at the point guard position, the Washington Wizards (2-6) have signed Earl Boykins to a non guaranteed contact. The Wizards swag party has been interrupted by injuries to their backcourt, losing Mike James, Javaris Crittenton, Mike Miller and Randy Foye for extended periods of time.

The 5’5 Earl Boykins averaged 9.4 points and 3.4 assists over his 10 year career. The Washington Wizards will be the 9th NBA franchise Boykins has played with.

Danilo Gallinari Provides The One Positive Moment For The Knicks Last Night

The Knicks are terrible. But one guy on that roster that has some hope is Danilo Gallinari. Aside from his range on his jumper and his decent handle, Danilo proves here that he can flush on somebody (Marvin Williams in this instance) if need be.

Daily Fantasy Diagnosis: 11.12

Danny Granger

Beast of the Night: Danny Granger shot 50 percent (12-24) from the field and perfect (5-5) from the line on his way to 31 points, 2 threes, 16 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 2 blocks and 4 turnovers. The double-digit boards were out of the ordinary as Granger seems to be dealing with a sore heel quite nicely. He’s still a DNP risk but his owners have to be enjoying the ride so far. Read More »
