My Random Observations- Magic/Cavs Game

These observations were made in real time watching the game, if you have random observations, comments or questions during any NBA game tweet it to @dimemag and I will choose the best to include in my random observations. Josh Smith Explains Why He Refuses To Shoot Threes This Year

Josh Smith (photo. adidas)

Ever since he entered the league in 2004, Josh Smith has been treating the basketball world with highlight reel dunks on a nightly basis. While he still gets above the rim routinely, J-Smooth has also developed an all-around game. He has become one of the league’s all-around threats averaging 16 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 4.4 apg, 2.6 bpg, 1.6 spg, while shooting 58.9 percent from the field. We caught up with Smith before the Hawks dismantled the Knicks 114-101 last night. Read More »

Superman Too

Shaquille O'Neal

During the ’09 conference finals, Shaq showed up at one of Orlando’s home games against the Cavs, to the chagrin of a lot of people associated with the Magic. Last night Shaq was back in the building; this time wearing a Cavs uniform. Throw in the tension leftover from when Diesel was talking greasy about Dwight Howard and Stan Van Gundy last year, and you know the fans had a lot of venom toward Big Witness Protection. He played into it, too, doing stuff like leaving his hand in the air extra-long after a free throw. And the crowd was even more pissed when Cleveland walked out with a win … Read More »

Stephen Curry Trying to Survive in Toxic Warriors World

Stephen Curry

There’s a must-read story in today’s New York Times about Stephen Curry‘s less-than-ideal start to his NBA career.

It’s not so much that Steph is struggling on the court – he’s doing pretty well and working through the same things the same things all rookies struggle with in their first year. It’s life off the court, life with his teammates, and life existing in the massive debacle that is the Golden State Warriors that has proven to be the most difficult to deal with.

First Annual Red Bull 2 on 2 Revolution Goes Down On 11/21

redbull_evite

If you are around the Hampton, VA. area on November, 21, we highly suggest you stop by the first annual Red Bull 2 on 2 Revolution. This unique basketball tournament will be held at the Boo Williams Sportsplex (5 Armistead Parkway) from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some of Virginia’s premier players will battle in a 2 on 2 single elimination, 32 team tournament that features some innovative rules. For example, if you dunk on somebody, it counts for 3 points. The same can be said for pinning someone’s shot against the backboard or crossing someone over so bad they fall.

REEBOK STILL TALKIN’ QUOTE OF THE DAY- 11.11

Reebok Still Talkin'

Without Stephen Jackson or Ron Artest, with Shaq biting his tongue about Dwight Howard and the Washington Wizards officially swagless, the NBA had little trash talk last night. Hopefully with 16 games on the schedule tonight, including an Orlando/Cleveland showdown, there will be plenty of talk for tomorrow’s Reebok Still Talkin’ Quote of the Day. For today we go international and turn to the Israeli media and prep to Europe player Jeremy Tyler. We all know that Jeremy Tyler took the Brandon Jennings route (albeit for different reasons) to Europe and opted to forgo his senior year of high school to go pro. Thus far his European adventure has been less than impressive and according to Ze’ev Avrahmi (courtesy of Sports Illustrated’s Seth Davis) the team is growing sick of Tyler. Read More »

Time Is Running Out For Byron Scott

photo. New Orleans Times-Picayune

The New Orleans Hornets have been declining ever since their magical 2008 Playoff run where they were one game away from the Western Conference Finals. After a disappointing 2008-09 season and a 3-5 start this year, it looks like the Hornets aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. David West’s stats are down, Morris Peterson and Julian Wrighthave been horrible, Okafor is struggling to fit in and Chris Paul seems unhappy. While the blame can be passed around in N.O., Byron Scott will probably be the scapegoat. Read More »

Fantasy Veterans: We Salute You

Kevin Garnett

In honor of our country’s wonderful military veterans on this Veterans Day, today we’ll take a look at some NBA veterans, in no particular order, who have managed to remain relevant to fantasy basketball after all these years. For the purposes of this post, “veterans” will be defined as those players who have played at least 12 seasons entering this one. Read More »
