Four matchups to watch on Thursday’s two-game schedule…
Chicago @ Cleveland: Luol Deng vs. LeBron James
For all the grief he took last season — getting the big contract, then promptly going into the tank with injuries and subpar play — Deng has been earning his money this year (17.8 ppg, 10.5 rpg). Read More »

Arguably the most controversial man in the NBA, has returned to our Reebok Still Talkin’ Quote of the Day. Last night was the much anticipated return of Ron Artest to the Toyota Center. Leading up to the game Trevor Ariza and Artest both shared their displeasure with free agency (Ariza described it as cut throat, Artest said the Rockets cost him more than $20,000) but deep down we all hoped the fireworks would happen on the court. Artest and Ariza didn’t disappoint each earning technical fouls 2:49 into the game. According to Ariza, Artest was reaching for his neck but Artest had his own interpretation of what happened. He doesn’t know exactly when or what position he would play, but one thing is certain: Big Baby wants to play in the NFL. Davis, who has been on the injured list ever since he hurt his thumb in a fight, was a star football player at University Laboratory High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was the school’s defensive end, defensive tackle and tailback. He recently told ESPN that he wants to pursue his dream of playing pro football. Read More »

I come across a lot of stories each day, and some just grab your attention more than others. Take for instance, this gem from The Dallas Morning News: “Dallas police preparing for influx of prostitutes during NBA All-Star game, Super Bowl XLV.” With the ASG coming in February, Dallas police are bracing for an influx of prostitutes. Because the Jazz have the Knicks’ first round pick this year, they pretty much already have a good lottery pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. By the way their playing, they’ll have two lottery picks. At 1-3, the Jazz are off to their worst start in six years. In each of their three losses, they have lost by double digits. They blew a 15-point fourth quarter lead against the Mavericks on Tuesday night and were outscored 44-18 (29 of which were courtesy of Dirk Nowitzki). Read More »

Led by a transfer from St. Bonaventure and a hometown 6-11 three-point shooter, the West Virginia Mountaineers were something special from 2004-06.
The school that the Logo himself put on the map was so surprisingly dominant that they reached consecutive Sweet 16’s, including an appearance in the Elite Eight in ‘05. Surprising, because they held a 46-22 record during those two seasons.
And they were led by even two more surprising candidates: Mike Gansey and Kevin Pittsnogle. Read More »

Indiana Pacers star Danny Granger is as low key as it gets. But after Indiana’s third straight loss against Denver on Tuesday night, Granger aka Batman made a big statement by storming out of the locker room without speaking to the media. Prior to last night’s game against the Knicks, we talked to the All-Star about the slow start and getting that first win. As fate would have it three hours later, Granger got 21 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals as the Pacers went on to earn that inaugural “W”. Read More »

Beast of the Night: Chris Paul edges out Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade and David Lee with his 39 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals, along with 61 percent (14-23) shooting from the floor and perfect (8-8) shooting from the line. He also hit 3 treys in an overtime victory over Dallas. CP3 got off to a relatively slow start this season but has really turned it on for the past three games. He’s playing with some extra ferocity nowadays and that’s a great thing for his fantasy owners. Read More »
