Eddy Curry Clubs Rajon Rondo
Eddy Curry was hit with a flagrant foul for his clubbing of Rajon Rondo. Gotta think some kind of fine is coming down on E-City for this as well…

Heading into this season the only thing anyone has been interested in talking about is the summer of 2010. The summer that Lebron James and Dwyane Wade can shake up the basketball world by signing free agent contracts with new franchises. Lost in the Wade/James hysteria is the pending free agency of fellow 2003 draftee Chris Bosh. Bosh has lived in the shadows of Wade, James and Carmelo Anthony since being drafted. Even in the Olympics, Bosh was second fiddle to his classmates and Kobe Bryant. It seems, at least to the average/casual NBA fan, that Chris Bosh is a step below the elite NBA players. For this installment of the Reebok Still Talkin’ Quote of the Day we turn to Chris Bosh and his feelings about not always being considered a top player. Read More »

Fans in T-Dot sure know how to hold a grudge. Nearly five years after Vince Carter’s shaky departure from Toronto, the fans have still not forgiven him nor are they planning on doing so anytime soon. In his first return as a member of the Magic on Sunday, the fans mercilessly booed Carter every time he touched the ball. While locals are still upset about Carter forcing himself out of town, they probably weren’t too pleased he declined to take part in the Raptors’ 15th anniversary celebration. Read More »

Weekend Wonder: Elton Brand is officially back to business after averaging 20 points, 10 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 2.5 steals, 2.5 blocks and 2.5 turnovers in two games over the weekend. He shot 56 percent (15-27) from the field and 91 percent (10-11) from the free throw line during this stretch. This makes three consecutive solid lines for Brand, who is finally showing signs of fulfilling the comeback status many labeled him with coming into this season. Read More »

In today’s Newsday, Alan Hahn has a piece about how the Houston Rockets want no parts of letting Tracy McGrady near their team, but the Knicks have been trying to trade for him for months.
It’s kind of funny that the Knicks wanted no parts of Allen Iverson because he supposedly would take time away from the guys the Knicks want to develop, but at the same time, they’re trying to bring the type of nonsense that Hahn describes into the locker room? Read More »
I was definitely fired up to watch Lakers/Thunder last night, and who wouldn’t be? Kobe vs. the most entertaining, up-and-coming team in the NBA, with the potential for a Bryant/Kevin Durant shootout? Didn’t quite work out that way, but Kobe made it entertaining as hell anyway…

Predicting who’s going to be MVP, who’s going to be an All-Star and who’s going to break out is something we all love to do before the season starts. But when it comes down to it, those predictions are meaningless because you still have to go out and play the games. Every year, some people just come out of the nowhere and have a monster season. Here are five guys who have been surprising people since opening night. Read More »

For six weeks leading up to this NBA season, I ranked and filed the League’s go-to guys. Using the rationale that even the most harmonious, balanced team has one if-all-else-fails alpha male that they look to in crunch time, I picked one player per squad for a final list of 30. (A concept that went over a lot of people’s heads; I can’t tell you how many “How is Ray Allen not on the list and Boris Diaw is?” e-mails I got.) Read More »

Heading down the stretch of Celtics/Knicks, Paul Pierce and Al Harrington were all set to battle it out for the right to hit the game-winner. Harrington was picking apart Boston’s D from all angles, while Pierce capitalized on New York’s defensive strategy that apparently involved leaving him wide open around the arc. After Harrington’s free throws tied it with 4.7 seconds left in the fourth, you expected Doc Rivers to have some brilliant play drawn up; he’s usually good for that. Instead, Rajon Rondo (14 pts, 9 rebs, 10 asts, 4 stls) took the inbounds, dribbled in place like he had all the time in the world, and jacked up a contested jumper at the last second. Not their best work … Read More »

What the hell is going on with the Wizards? Earlier this week they got Antawn Jamison back, got a mostly healthy roster, took out the arch-enemy Cavs on national TV to snap a six-game losing streak, and looked like they were back on track toward contending in the East like so many people had predicted. Then the Wiz turn around and got almost 20-pieced in Oklahoma City, and last night they got smoked in San Antonio … It was a bad mix of the Spurs at their best and the Wizards at their worst. Tim Duncan and his cronies dominated the glass (59-44), Gilbert Arenas and his guys forgot about ball movement (12 assists total), Tony Parker was killing on the pick-and-roll (17 pts, 8 asts), and of course Washington had somebody get injured when Mike Miller hurt his calf in the first quarter and reportedly could be out for up to a month … Read More »
