Reebok Still Talkin’ Quote of the Day 11.19

There were quite a few compelling story lines after last night’s NBA action. Eddy Curry returned to the court, Dirk Nowitzki showed he is the most clutch player in the NBA, the Atlanta Hawks continued to prove that they are legit and the Cavs/Wizards “rivalry” was renewed. The Wizards, a staple of Reebok Still Talkin’ Quote of the Day series, were on a 6 game losing streak but had their team at full strength and use that strength to pull out a 108-91 victory. For today’s Quote of the Day we look at Gilbert Arenas’ post game remarks.
Antawn… came out stroking it. He dominated that first quarter, Mike Miller dominated in the second quarter, I dominated in the third quarter, then Earl Boykins and Caron [Butler] came in and dominated the fourth.
From the start of training camp we’ve heard the same statements from the Washington Wizards. They have swagger, they are the deepest team in the NBA, they can compete for a NBA championship. Until now all that talk was just talk, now they have their team at full strength and have no more excuses. Last night the team formerly known as the Bullets showed a balanced attack with Michael Llyod Miler (17pts, 8rbs, 6ast), Caron Butler (19 pts, 6rbs), Gilbert Arenas (18pts, 8asts, 6rbs) and Antwan Jamison (31 pts, 10rbs) and looked like the team they were advertised to be coming into the season. Each player stepped up when they were needed and the Wizards played like a team instead of forcing the ball to Agent 0. If the Wizards can keep up their team play and stay relatively healthy they will make some noise in the standings, if not they will always make noise in the papers.

Come on you know you leave that part out lol.
Anyway they did look complete as a team finally. See how long it holds up. The remind me of the Rockets where they would pretty much fall apart if injury happens.

Fall apart as in contending for a Championship. They would probably still make the playoffs.

Are you serious-Dirk Nowinski is the most clutch player in the league! He popped off the mouth about the going to the World Cup and got blitzed by Miami, and then Golden State gives them the business in the playoffs. Not feeling it!!!!!!! Just a lucky shot- no skills

“Dirk Nowitzki showed he is the most clutch player in the NBA”
I think you meant to say most clutch when it doesn’t count for anything. If it’s the playoffs Dirk chokes as usual.

@ all the dirk haters, i guess nobody remembers the game tying and-1 play dirk had against san antonio of game 7 in the playoffs to send the game into overtime where the mavs won and eventually got to the finals that year (2006) after beating the suns in the western conference finals…MAVS 2010 NBA CHAMPS! Dirk for MVP!

@roman – not a Dirk fan either, but dude’s ALL skill. Having said that, he’s CLEARLY not the most clutch player even in his division.
@mack – where dirk promptly blew (an incredibly tainted) Finals with missed foul shots late and dirk got lucky that manu lost his damn mind for a second and committed one of the worst fouls ever. That play shoulda only been for them to be down 1. If dirk had known he was bout to tie it, he’dve missed that layup AND one of the foul shots.

Dirk is clearly the most clutch player in the League right now. How many games have there been? And how many have been dominated by Dirk in the 4th quarter, even right up til the end and into overtime? Crazy. Kellan, you got it right, and it’s sad that it’s not more universally recognized.
Also, as I said a couple weeks ago – Wiz/Cavs is real.
