Richard Jefferson Baptizes Greg Oden
Over the weekend, Richard Jefferson served up one of the meanest dunks of the season so far at the expense of Greg Oden. But it was the Oden and the Blazers who got the last laugh, beating the Spurs 96-84 on Friday.

SJ says:
Sick. Nasty. Damn, Oden… give me your height and I would have swatted that shit to the stands. Oden say him coming before he took a step inside the 3. I can understand him not wanting to take the charge with his 70 year old body, though.

if i was as big as oden, block or not, jefferson would be picking his ass up off the ground.

MoJo says:
I would consider a ‘baptizing’ or ‘posterizing’ when someone tries to block a shot or dunk and gets plain embarrassed. In this instance, Greg was in foul trouble (as he usually is) and simply got out of the way. Jefferson had an open lane to the hoop, and Greg would certainly have picked up a foul there, even if he would have sent jefferson to the ground. considering where the game was at that point, let him dunk, avoid the foul, get the W. love GO!

Really? This is getting baptized? Oden doesn’t even try to challenge the shot, he was avoiding another BS foul call so that he could finish the game on the floor. A game where he outplayed Tim Duncan by the way….

Steve A says:
He came over late and conceded the 2. Just cause he is a shot blocker doesn’t mean he will go for everything.

POPPI GEE says:
I gotta go with Rare Air, I didn’t know RJ still had that in him. Wow.
What should Oden have done:
A. Take it like he took it and look like a punk.
B. Jump & contest & possibly look like a bigger dummy.
C. Run away from the play and just be a coward.
D. Foul RJ super hard so he will never test him again.
I go with D.

JC says:
There was definitely some contact (Oden light push to the body, Jefferson light five fingers to the face) but I see why some are hesitant to label this an all-out baptism. However, there’s no doubt this is truly a sick, fierce dunk.
I happened to be walking by a Buffalo Wild Wings which was showing the game right when this play happened. There was a big group of people at a table between us and the TV, and they thought my girl and I were gawking, laughing and pointing at them. Almost started something…

uh huh says:
Don’t forget Rudy Gay baseline on Thorton pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.. Iggy might have been worse. Of a slow step he elevated for no reason. Okay RJ back to the Arizona/Nets days. You should still be hooping. You’re not that old and I believe you had an ankle injury. Look at Grant Hill.

This was, by far, the dunk of the year so far. Amazing. And yeah, Oden should have done SOMETHING.

RJ made Oden look like a girl who was left standing at the altar.

Baby Huey says:
Time and situation people, he had been in foul trouble and did the smart thing, let the player go, concede the basket, and play on. If he had gone for the block, he would have been called for a foul and would not have been able to impose his will at the end of the game.
For all of you dogging Oden for not chellenging the dunk, please go on eBay and see if you can find a basketball IQ to bid on, you need one

The last time I saw RJ get on a highlight reel like that was when he boomed on Malik Rose in the Finals when he was playing for the Nets.
