Delonte West Proves That Josh Smith Can’t Block Everything
Josh Smith is easily one of the top 5 most athletic players in the NBA. The combination of his size (6-9, 240 pounds) and insane hops are just a few of the reasons why he’s second in the league in blocked shots (2.4 bpg). That’s why I give Delonte West some major props for even attempting to bang one on J-Smooth. On a fast break during last night’s Hawks/Cavs game, D-West showed the world how you finish at the rim against a great shot blocker.

he didnt really dunk on him cause Smoove was behind the play.. if he didnt jump it would be non-story .. not realy a dunk on

Agree. This is an over hyped dunk. West took it strong, Smoove mistimed his jump. Nothing to really lose your pride over.

all of yall are some haters he dunk on him josh jumped & tried to block it so u dont call a 6’3 dude dunking over a 6’9 dude with crazy hops with the arms of a monkey getting dunked on i swear most of the people that comment just hate on the cavs so hard give dude his props because if it was anybody else then yall would say this was impressive.

@ fiyaman
can’t agree anymore. West was trying to get the dunk off as quickly as possible, with no obstacle in ‘front’ of him. To me, he beat Smith to the basket. Just mho i suppose
@ richard
i’m not hating on the cavs. only team i hate are the Celts

richard from cleveland says:
@kl i understand what u guys are saying but this is basketball if he really wasnt trying then he shouldnt have jumped thats his fault i bet if it was somebody else on any other team then everybody would be talking about how josh smith got dunked on.

@richard
agreed. the cavs bench did go nuts. Bottomline, it comes down to one’s definition of being ‘dunked on’. Me, it’s a face to face facial like Vince on Zo or Baron on AK47. Those were filthy, where they completed the dunk ‘on top’ of their opponent. for now..excuse me while i youtube the VC dunk from the olympics

Gerard says:
…watch the first 3 seconds. Where is Delonte and where is Josh? Smith had the advantage, he was already further down the court, he got beat down there. He got dunked on.
December 30th, 2009 at 12:59 pm
richard from cleveland says:
@kl i agree with that fact about being dunked on top of someone.
@gerard thanks for proving my point also smith’s arms are long as shit ive seen him block peoples shots before and he was further than that. but yes he was ahead of delonte & i think he is also a tad bit faster no excuse he got dunked on point blank period.

Another thing that takes away from that dunk is that josh smith blocks most of his shots with his left. Its very difficult to block a shot with your “off arm” but still an impressive dunk

Colton says:
ok … dunked “on” maybe not, but good dunk nonetheless. good hustle by delonte (former sonic) i mean if josh smith would have blocked that shot everybody would be saying how good the block was, right? but since delonte beat him down the court, lets just agree, good dunk with contest by josh smith. if you can can dunk with josh smith on your tail like that, more power too ya cuz 75%+ of the time he’ll bang that off the backboard. props to delonte.

richard from cleveland says:
@colton thanks thats all i was trying to say if it was the other way around good block but some peoples are not giving props on the dunk.
@kevin even tho it was with the off hand he was still close to getting it, its just that you cant block them all.
for everybody i have a question people were saying that courtney lee dunked on lebron in the ecf but lebron was father behind lee when he dunked than smith was when delonte west dunked so whats the difference there?
