Go To Happy Hour At Arco Arena

The Sacramento Kings’ ticket sales department are either brilliant or desperate. In an effort to boost poor attendance (the Kings’ are 29th in the league in attendance with 12,424 fans per game), the Kings debuted “Spread the Kings Cheer With Dollar Beer Night” at Arco Arena during the Kings/Wizards game last night.
Apparently, the gimmick worked as the arena drew 16,579 fans and won the game 112-109. The idea was genius since Spencer Hawes bobble-head night supposedly doesn’t move tickets. The move has fired up a little controversy around Sacramento particularly with groups like MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers) and the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. There weren’t any reported problems with the promotion and it’s unclear whether they will try it again.
What would be the best gimmick to sell tickets?

i was there last night and havent seen arco that full since webb was here. before the knee went out. it was crazy full and the lines to get the beer were goin on until halftime started. the cool thing was that nobody was actin crazy. everyone was just there for the game and to kick it. it was good seeing them play well, having even the upper deck pretty full and kickin it w/ the espn dudes in the bus. we chilled w/ those guys before and after the game! lol anybody thats been out to a game the night they’re there, knows about the little displays they’ve got up. apparently i need to get my vert higher. for a dude who’s 5’11″, i’m sittin at 33″. then my cousin went next and got 35″. he did have some J’s on tho. my pumas werent cuttin it last night.
this limo service was even out after the game offering free rides home to ppl! it was crazy last night. wildin out. gotta love arco on a full night man…

DB what up! Sounds like you had a time and ya boy Evans did work.
Cash back night would work lol. Once people present their tickets (have to have multiple areas set up) various sections would get a pre-set dollar amount back for their tickets.
Can’t do that every night of course but 1 night that would most def. have seats filled.
Have a gifts all night game. And all through the game at every stop in action fouls, time outs, sweat wipe ups on the floor have the hype team come out and shoot shirts, bobble heads, towels, free food passes to sections, frisbees, beads and whatever. It would be a wild night, imagine people taking bags of gifts home. Folks would love a night like that.
It’s tons teams could do.

The Maloofs also own a beer distribution company in New Mexico so this makes perfect sense. They should do this more often.
In related news, I heard people at Arco were so buzzed from the promotion that Kenny Thomas actually appeared to have skills.

If attendance goes even lower following this they should consider $2 shot tequila night, sign edwardo najara and horacio llamas for one night to be bartenders.

Man, I’ve been ribbing my favorite beer man at the Hawks stadium for years for a promo like this! $1 beers!
The beer guys now carrying the tubs in Atlanta in the stands this year sell only big boy cans that go for $10.50 each! Order 2 beers and no change for your $20 bill–you got to fork over another buck! (These beer guys are hating this, as more folks like me are walking up to the concourse for their pints at a paltry $7.50 each).
