There is no bigger Sixers fan that I know than Patrick Cassidy. If you don’t believe me, just read any of the posts in Pat’s Sixers Blog. So that’s why it makes perfect sense that Reebok asked Cass to talk about his favorite player of all-time (not named Chris Mullin) and the re-release of his first shoe. Check it out below.
This week’s “Damn, I feel old” moment came from Wednesday’s Cavs/Sixers game. It was when I realized Shaq and Allen Iverson were on the court, and neither was the best player on his own squad. Shaq isn’t even the marquee box-office attraction in Cleveland, while A.I. only holds that distinction in Philly because he’s royalty in the city and because Andre Iguodala isn’t as famous as he is talented.
That aging feeling was compounded soon after tip-off, when it became clear each team intended to take advantage of the defensive deficiencies of Shaq and Iverson — the two old guys on the court. Read More »
Wow. Kobe haters are going to have a tough time hating after what went down last night in Milwaukee. Five seconds to go, down by one, basketball’s Mariano Rivera took it right to Charlie Bell, gave him a little fake before shooting a fadeaway as the clock turned zero. Game time. If I was a Bucks fan, I wouldn’t even be mad. Bell played him the right way and had a hand in his face, but Kobe is just unguardable – especially in a game-winning situation like that.
This made me wonder: Is there any single defender in the NBA right now that would have prevented Kobe from making that shot?
On Christmas Day at my house, the only music getting any run is Nat King Cole and The Whispers. I don’t think Shane Battier and Luis Scola are making the cut this year…
Apologies to Tiger’s wife, but Milwaukee Bucks fans have to be the sports world’s most sympathetic figure this morning. With a minute and a half left in overtime of last night’s game against the Lakers, the Bucks were ahead by six and the Bradley Center was jumpin’. After Michael Redd (25 pts) drained a three and Luke Ridnour hit a jumper, L.A. called timeout: Cue the guy in the crowd holding up what looked like an authentic pro wrestling championship belt dancing like a maniac, the dude in a legit Bill Cosby sweater getting his old-man groove on, and all the ladies and babies in between just knowing their team was only seconds away from taking down the champs. And then Kobe Bryant decided to play the role of Bolo Yeung in Bloodsport. Read More »

Today I came across a column where the writer listed some things Tiger Woods should do if he decides to go on an image-repair campaign: Sign more autographs, smile more often, be nicer to the media, that kind of thing.
Allow me to vigorously disagree. (So much that I had to use the word “vigorously.”) If Tiger all of a sudden re-emerges from this scandal shaking hands and kissing babies, it will come across as blatantly fake, because we all know that’s not Tiger’s natural way. Read More »

For you non magazine readers (make sure to take advantage of our holiday offer), Ink is a feature where we take a look at the best tattoos in the Association. We have covered everyone from Allen Iverson to Wilson Chandler, learning the meaning behind their body art.
