Rodney Stuckey’s Got The Pistons Thinking Playoffs

Rodney Stuckey

Watching the Pistons dynasty dismantle the past few years was like watching the cast of Saturday Night Live when they started to lose guys like David Spade, Adam Sandler and Chris Farley. After the departure of Chauncey Billups, it all seemed to start going downhill from there. Next to go was Rasheed Wallace, who signed with Boston over this offseason. Richard Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince are still there, but Rip has been upset with the organization and Tayshaun has been the subject of various trade rumors. Read More »

Orlando needs an enforcer

Dwight Howard

Dwight Howard is going to snap. I don’t know when it’s going to happen, exactly what it’s going to entail, or which sad soul will take the brunt of it … but it’s coming.

Last night, Howard made 22 trips to the free-throw line in a win over the Pacers, three days after he shot 17 free throws in a loss to Phoenix. In both games, the defensive strategy was clear: Don’t let Dwight dunk on you at a 98 percent clip when you can send him to the line and take your chances 50/50. Read More »

Your Team Can Trade For Jason Kidd Today

Jason Kidd

Without a doubt, I’m a trade junkie. Whether it’s a blockbuster deal, expiring contracts or wheeling and dealing for future first round picks, any time there’s the possibility for player movement, I’m in. With that in mind, today is a big day, as all the free agents who signed contracts in the offseason were unable to be sent packing until now (or three months from the day they inked their new deal, whichever date comes later). Over the weekend, Marc Stein compiled the complete list of players from last summer’s free-agent class who are now eligible to be traded. Check it out: Read More »

The Houston Rockets Are Putting In Crazy Holiday Hours

Rick Adelman

Somebody up in the NBA headquarters must hate the Houston Rockets. The Rockets’ schedule in the next two weeks is as bad as you’re going to get – minus an eight-game Eastern road trip that is. The team has not one, not two, not three, but four consecutive back-to-back games. Each of which they have to fly out that night to play in another city. Merry Christmas Rick Adelman. Read More »

Anthony Randolph Is On The Trading Block

Anthony Randolph

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Warriors might be looking to move Anthony Randolph. Several NBA insiders told Wojnarowski that Golden State has been offering the 20-year-old forward in trade discussions. Apparently, the Warriors feel Randolph has maturity issues and has not developed this season as they would have liked. For the season, he is averaging 11.3 points, 6.5 rebounds in 22 minutes of action for the 7-17 Warriors.

It’s Too Early To Anoint John Wall The Next LeBron

John Wall

Let’s face it, Kentucky freshman, John Wall, is just that dude right now. He’s Jesus Shuttlesworth in He Got Game. He’s LeBron circa 2003. Nobody in college basketball even comes close to generating the kind of excitement and hype as this 6-4 point guard. Wall is the best freshman (perhaps player) in the country right now and a near lock for the top pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. Read More »

Inside the Torture Chamber

Dwight Howard (photo. adidas)

We like to hook up our Dime readers throughout the year, so you know we have something special for the holidays. Starting now, if you purchase a gift subscription to the magazine for somebody else, you get your own one-year subscription for only $12. That’s like less than the price of feeding Big Baby Davis every day between the hours of 3-5 p.m. Check the deal out HERE and take advantage … Now if you like watching Dwight Howard shoot free throws, Magic/Pacers last night was your game. Maybe Indy coach Jim O’Brien agreed with the Orlando announcer who called Roy Hibbert a “foul-committing machine” who has no business guarding Dwight and maybe he didn’t, but Coach’s plan to single-cover Dwight and foul him basically every time he got the ball worked in the sense that the Pacers were in position to win the game late in the fourth quarter.
