Once I heard that the MVPuppets were back, I couldn’t wait to see where they went next. Apparently LeBron is missing his Air Max LeBron VIIs, and no one knows who took ‘em…

The Knicks signing Jonathan Bender over the weekend was surprising on a variety of levels. For starters, Bender hasn’t played in the NBA or any professional basketball leagues for that matter, since the 2005-06 season. A persistent knee injury forced the former lottery pick to retire at just 25 years old. Read More »

Working at Dime Magazine, a ton of headlines, news and opinions pass through our website each week. Everyday a new story breaks and we change our focus to the next game on the schedule. Friday was hectic for us at Dime, as we worked to get our site back up and running. Now that we are back online, I took the time to reflect on what the NBA taught me last week. Read More »

“Just like the point guards, [there's] a diverse mix of old and young, shooters and slashers, champions and franchise players. Looking at this season’s rosters, almost every team has an established or budding star at the three, with every night providing multiple marquee matchups. Basically, reason No. 295 why you need to get NBA League Pass.”
That was from Dime’s NBA season preview issue, regarding the beginning of what looks like a golden era for small forwards. And Sunday was one of those nights we talked about, where the small forwards shined everywhere. The main event had LeBron and Kevin Durant squaring off in Oklahoma City, and ‘Bron turned in maybe his best performance of the year. Read More »

Saturday’s NBA schedule featured one double-overtime game, one single-overtime game, the League’s best team having its 11-game win streak snapped, a matchup of probably the 2nd and 3rd-best teams in the West that included a huge comeback, and a rematch of 2009′s most exciting playoff series. So what was the best game of the night? Count us among those who loved Amar’e Stoudemire‘s scruffy-face-’fro-and-goggles look, but if being lined up with a fresh cut means STAT will play the rest of the year like he did last night, we can live without the Moses Malone tribute. Amar’e was a beast, dropping 28 points and 10 boards on Orlando and helping hold Dwight Howard to just 10 points (8-17 FT) on ONE field goal attempt. Of course he got some easy buckets off the pick-and-roll, but his jumper was smooth as well, and his offensive rebound and dunk in the final seconds was vital in helping PHX stay undefeated at home … Read More »

When it comes to sneaker spots, you want a mixture between great product and excellent service. There’s nothing worse than walking in to a swanky boutique and having some dude in skinny jeans stare at you as if you don’t belong. That’s why Westlake Village’s Tradition has been my spot since they opened their doors in November of 2006. After featuring them in Dime #42, owners Andrew Kline and Jason Gaines have decided to expand further into the 805, opening their newest store on Main Street in Ventura. Read More »

Buy Low: Tony Parker, while slightly overrated for fantasy purposes, is more valuable than his current stats are conveying. His points, rebounds, assists, steals and turnovers have all taken a turn for the worse this season but unlike his rap career, all hope is not lost for his fantasy value. Read More »

Word of God Academy (Raleigh, N.C.) forward C.J. Leslie is the #10-rated prospect in the HSH Top 50. Previously committed to N.C. State, Leslie recently re-opened his recruiting and has opted to wait until the spring to decide on a college. That alone makes his one of the most intriguing stories in the 2010 senior class, and Leslie also happens to be one of its most exciting players. C.J. has agreed to give us exclusive access in a bi-monthly diary about his season and the recruiting process as he inches closer to a decision. Here’s an excerpt: Read More »
Twelve years after Allen Iverson crossed-up Michael Jordan, Rodney Stuckey returned the favor. During Wednesday night’s game between the Sixers and Pistons, Stuckey not only had 27 points and 8 assists on A.I., but he also severely crossed-over the newly signed Sixer.
