I have no problem admitting that I’m going to be giddy tonight when Allen Iverson is re-introduced to Sixers’ home crowd. Whether he only plays a few minutes and just tries to get his feet wet or if he goes off for 30 doesn’t really matter. The point is that A.I. is home.
To celebrate tonight’s homecoming, check out the best Allen Iverson commercials, compliments of our friends at Blaze of Love. To start it off? My favorite of all-time – the spot where A.I. “invents a new move.” Read More »
It’s amazing how fast people can forget about you. Just a month-and-a-half ago, Blake Griffin was a hot topic in the media. Griffin, who was the number one pick in last year’s Draft, is viewed as the power forward of the future for not only the Clippers, but the NBA as well. But the 6-10 forward has been sidelined ever since he injured his left kneecap during training camp. Originally expected to return around this time, the Clippers announced that Blake won’t be back into the lineup until at least January. Read More »
Along with UCLA, Kansas and North Carolina, it’s pretty well known in the basketball world that Northeast Mississippi Community College produces a horde of NBA talent… The best Tiger to ever come out of Booneville, is none other than Jail Blazin’ Qyntel Woods. Read More »
When I was first watching this highlight, I was gearing up to shout, “raindrop” on point after Brandon Jennings’behind the back move. My anticipation was quickly replaced by LeBron rejecting Young Moola into the stands. Jennings went on to score 24, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Cavs, who won 101-86. LeBron wants none of your razzle dazzle Jennings…Ice man!
Weekend Wonder: Chris Paul made a somewhat surprising early return from a sprained ankle on Friday and dropped some jaws with his 16 points, 6 boards, 15 dimes, 8 steals and 1 block. He hit 46 percent (6-13) of his shots, all of his three free throws and chipped in a three-pointer. He had 3 turnovers, but a 5:1 assist-to-turnover ratio ain’t shabby. This line must’ve been painful for his owners who understandably benched him in weekly formats, but it’s safe to say that CP3 won’t need any time to recover his status as the best fantasy baller in the land. For six weeks leading up to the NBA season, I ranked and filed the League’s go-to guys. Using the rationale that even the most harmonious, balanced team has one if-all-else-fails alpha male that they look to in crunch time, I picked one player per squad for a final list of 30. (A concept that went over a lot of people’s heads; I can’t tell you how many “How is Ray Allen not on the list and Boris Diaw is?” e-mails I got.) Read More »
Here’s a list of guys that have stepped up their game this season and in turn are catching the attention of a few more eyeballs. Overall, I think that Aaron Brooks is playing the best of anyone on this list; however, I have chosen someone from each division whose improvement has not gone unnoticed. Read More »
If it’s not Kevin Durant or Amar’e Stoudemire, then it’s got to be Donte Greene right? This dunk comes to us from Miami’s 115-102 victory in Sacramento last night; where you could have also caught Dwyane Wade tossing the occasional wink to Gabrielle Union on the sidelines, en route to dropping 34. Joel Anthony did have a nice laugh on Amir Johnson a few weeks back, but damn, the posters are losing their meaning.
Among the questions facing the Trail Blazers as they get used to life without Greg Oden, another bigger and broader question faces Oden himself as he prepares for another grueling round of rehab and another psychological hurdle to clear once he does get back on the basketball court.
