If you’ve never been to the House of Hoops in Harlem, then you haven’t been to one of the Meccas of New York City basketball. With the most exclusive gear and clientele, HOH is always on to the next one. Today, I just got word that not only is the Undefeated x Nike ‘Livestrong’ Air Force 1 in the house (in very limited quantities and disappearing fast) but that they’ve also opened up for customization. I don’t know how this never shows up on any college basketball highlight reels or “Crazy Shot” montages. Maybe it’s because the game-winner probably shouldn’t have counted, but whatever. In this game from 1999, USC is trailing Oregon by five points with 2.8 seconds left. No way they can win the game, right? Wrong. (Check for the Brian Scalabrine cameo.)

Beast of the Night:Vladimir Radmanovic tore it up last night, finishing with 20 points, 4 threes, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. He shot 62 percent (8-13) from the field and had just 1 turnover. This is an eye-opening from a player who’s owned in very few leagues right now, but Radmanovic, whose three-point shooting fits the Warriors’ system, is getting minutes in Golden State and has started almost every game since he’s been there. He deserves a look in most leagues. Read More »
With Stephen Jackson getting traded and Carlos Boozer being a model citizen in Utah, trade talk has been kind of slow the past few weeks. Last night, Yahoo! Sports‘ Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Knicks may be interested in acquiring Bulls forward Tyrus Thomas. Apparently, the Knicks would offer Al Harrington in return. Read More »
Anybody who is a Sixers fan or just a basketball fan in general had to love watching Allen Iverson in that emotional press conference yesterday. Watching him tear up and letting the world know how much he loves being back in Philly sent chills down my spine. Now that his strange month-long odyssey is out of the way, it’s time for him and everybody to get the focus back on basketball. Read More »
During last night’s Celtics/Spurs game, a random question came to me: How would Dennis Rodman‘s career have panned out if he’d played for Gregg Popovich in San Antonio?
Rodman built his rep as a throttling defender and monster rebounder in Detroit, but he didn’t get all (publicly) weird-acting until he got to San Antonio. Neither of his coaches in two years with the Spurs (John Lucas, Bob Hill) could contain him, and David Robinson always seemed like he was either scared of Rodman — in the same way you’d be scared of the creepy kid on your dorm floor — or he simply thought of Rodman as a lost cause. Funny how the Celtics went from everybody’s new favorite team (this side of the Lakers) two years ago, to the most hated team in the League today (this side of the Lakers).
