Clip Of The Day: Deron Williams Crosses Up Will Bynum

Will Bynum has one of the nastiest crossovers in the game today. We’ve been seeing the Chicago playground legend cross people up ever since he was a freshman at Arizona. Back on Nov. 21 in a game in Utah, Bynum gets a little taste of his own medicine as Deron Williams puts him on skates in this clip.

Utah is one player away from a ‘chip … and they’ll get him in 2010

Deron Williams (photo. Christian Kozowyck)

Even with Carlos Boozer‘s contract coming off the books, the Jazz don’t have a lot of cap room in 2010. For that reason, nobody is really talking about Utah as a major player in the Summer of LeBron (and D-Wade, Bosh Joe Johnson, etc.).

But even without that cap room, the Jazz will be in position to add an instant impact player or two to their roster, who could be the missing piece in getting Jerry Sloan a championship before he retires and giving the Western Conference a new powerhouse. Read More »

Program of the Decade: Michigan State vs North Carolina

NCAA Final Four Michigan St N Carolina Basketball

Tonight the Big Ten/ACC Challenge presents a rematch of the 2009 National Championship between University of North Carolina and Michigan State. Interestingly this is the 2nd time this decade that the Big Ten/ACC challenge has offered a title rematch (in 2006 UNC faced off against the Illini of Illinois) but this matchup is widely considered to be a bigger deal since both teams were preseason top 5 and currently sit in the AP top 10. The hype surrounding the rematch got me wondering how the programs stack up against each other. Besides both schools producing one of the All Time Greats (MSU’s Magic Johnson, UNC’s Michael Jordan) comparing the two schools basketball pedigree heavily favors the Tar Heels. Unless you ask yourself which school had a better decade? Read More »

Nobody Is Talking About Carl Landry

Carl Landry

The truth is if Carl Landry hadn’t got shot earlier this year, most people wouldn’t know who he was. But the Rockets’ blue collar worker is quietly putting up some big time stats (15.8 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 56 percent from the field) this season. Landry is part of that young, scrappy and rejuvenated Rockets squad that is holding their own at 9-8 (eighth in the West). Now that Luis Scola is out with an eye injury, the 6-9 Landry will make his very first start on Wednesday night on the road against the Clippers. Read More »

Marion Jones headed to the WNBA

Marion Jones

If anyone can relate to Tiger Woods right now, it’s Marion Jones. The five-time Olympic medal sprinter and long jumper was once in the good girl/golden child class of American athletes — then suddenly found her personal life being picked apart thanks to close ties to steroid users and her eventual admission that she also used steroids.

(In my perfect world, Tiger’s next press conference goes like this: * Reporter: Where were you headed at 2:30 in the morning? * Tiger: Well, to be honest, I was going to go mind my f***in’ business.) Read More »

Mark Wahlberg & Will Ferrell Film Courtside At The Garden

The Other Guys

There’s nothing like living in New York. Case in point: On Sunday, November 22nd when the Knicks played the Celtics, Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell filmed scenes for their upcoming movie “The Other Guys.” Sitting courtisde along with co-stars Rosie Perez and Brooke Shields, the duo definitely made themselves noticed roaming the sidelines. Top 5 Under The Radar College Players Out West

Klay Thompson

Here are five guys who are balling with the best of the West, but you probably couldn’t pick them out of a lineup.

Klay Thompson, Washington State (Sophomore) It’s interesting that one of the Pac-10’s best players and current NCAA leading scorers is not publicized more. I guess that’s what happens when you ball in Pullman, Washington. Read More »

Where Are They Now: Scoonie Penn

milk_carton

Before Evan Turner, Greg Oden and Mike Conley Jr. were Buckeyes, Scoonie Penn was the big man on campus at Ohio State (’98-00). Standing an inch or two short of six-feet, the stocky point guard was like Chauncey Billups the way he could pick apart defenders with his strength and speed. And just like Mr. Big Shot, Penn was cool under pressure and could close out games. Read More »

Jrue Holiday Embarasses Fellow Rookie Rodrigue Beaubois

The Sixers’ ship is sinking fast and it’s still unclear whether or when Allen Iverson will come in and rescue the franchise’s playoff hopes. After last night’s 104-102 loss to the Mavs, Philly has now lost seven straight games. The one bright spot of the game for the Sixers was this nasty dunk by rookie Jrue Holiday.
