5 NBA Players Most Likely To Be Moved

Kevin Martin

We already saw one trade go down this past week when the Jazz sent rookie Eric Maynor to the Thunder. With the new year just around the corner, expect trade talks to really pick up between now and the February 18 trade deadline. Trade rumors around the web and in newspapers have already started to gain momentum this week. Players like Tracy McGrady, Kevin Martin, Eddy Curry and Tyrus Thomas are just a few of the names that have been thrown out. Read More »

What I Learned from the NBA last Week

LeBron James

Working at Dime Magazine, a ton of headlines, news and opinions pass through our website each week. Everyday a new story breaks and we change our focus to the next game on the schedule. Before this week gets started, I’ll take the time to reflect on what the NBA taught me last week. Read More »

Baron This Town

Baron Davis

Here’s the thing with Baron Davis: He’s good enough that you can’t hold a full discussion about the NBA’s top point guards without at least mentioning his name — but he’s not that good often enough for you to really figure out where he should rank. The fact that he’s got as much raw talent as Deron Williams, and yet a lot of people would rather have current-day Mike Bibby on their squad should tell you a lot … Last night was one of those where Baron looked like a Top-10, maybe even a Top-5 PG, outplaying Rajon Rondo and handing the Celtics a loss at Staples Center. History Repeated

Tracy McGrady

A multiple-time NBA scoring champ abruptly left his team in the middle of a road trip yesterday, amidst rumors that the longtime superstar and the organization couldn’t come to an agreement on his playing time and role on the court. No, this isn’t Memphis, and this isn’t Allen Iverson. This is about Tracy McGrady, who after being told he wouldn’t play in Houston’s two games this weekend (at Nets, at Cavs), left the Rockets and went home. Nobody affiliated with the Rockets has officially said whether this is one of those, “Call me when you decide to play me, trade me or buy me out,” situations, but it seems obvious enough, right? Gift of the Game

Shaquille O'Neal (photo. Chenoa Maxwell)

The relatively easy time Cleveland had running the Lakers out of their own gym in the most-hyped NBA game of the year was personified best by, of all people, Anderson Varejao. At the start of the second quarter, as the Cavs began to build a 20-point lead that the Lakers could never make up, Varejao looked amazingly competent on offense: He hit a fadeaway, used a smooth up-and-under to get himself a layup, and actually handled the ball for significant stretches without looking like a doofus … Meanwhile, LeBron and Co. ran most of the quarter, getting numerous transition opportunities off L.A. turnovers and taking some steam out of the Staples Center crowd. NIKEiD Draws Mob Scene Outside The Staples Center

NIKEiD

Although the Lakers couldn’t get it done in the arena, outside the arena fans were going nuts. Just minutes after things got out of hand – which saw MVPuppet “L.A.” foam fingers rain down from the rafters – I linked up with the guys at NIKEiD to spread some holiday cheer. That’s right, free t-shirts. Read More »

The 2010 Free Agent Nobody’s Talking About

Manu Ginobili

On this Chirstmas Day, two of the NBA’s most coveted 2010 free agents are being showcased on national TV. Dwyane Wade is on the tube as we speak playing the Knicks at Madison Square Garden, which coincidently could be one of his most appealing options come July 1st. The other superstar ’10 free agent, LeBron James, is in sunny California about to take on Kobe and the Lakers later on today. Read More »

Kobe & LeBron: Dunkin’ On That Reindeer

Kobe & LeBron: Dunkin' On That Reindeer

You already knew that things were going to be crazy in L.A. for today’s game. Wanting to catch a glimpse of the action early, I headed down to the Staples Center only to find larger-than-life MVPuppets already on the scene. And of course, dunk’ on that reindeer. I just hope the in-arena DJ has the track to play during the game. Read More »

It’s A Fantasy Christmas 2009

Ruben Patterson

With Christmas upon us, it’s time to talk about fantasy basketball thus far this season with a festive perspective. Let’s pretend that we’re casting NBA players for an ostentatious Christmas play, with many of the typical Christmas characters written into the script. Here are the players that would be good candidates for each role, based on their fantasy performances so far and their anticipated values in 2010. Read More »
