And it don’t stop, and it won’t stop for the Portland Trail Blazers. Already racked by injuries to Travis Outlaw, Nic Batum, Greg Oden, Rudy Fernandez and Patty Mills, the Blazers have likely lost starting center Joel Przybilla for the rest of the campaign.
In the first quarter of tonight’s game at Dallas, Przybilla got tangled up with Erick Dampier and left the game after hurting his knee. Later on, it was reported that Przybilla suffered a ruptured patella tendon and dislocated patella, basically a worse injury than the one Oden suffered a couple weeks ago. Read More »

Just when you thought things were going well for Eric Maynor in Utah, the Jazz go and trade him to Oklahoma City. The Thunder acquired the rookie point guard, along with Matt Harpring’s expiring $6.5 million contract, in exchange for the draft rights to Peter Fehse from Germany, a 2002 second-round pick. Since Fehse will most likely never play in the NBA, and Harpring is out for the season (possibly the rest of his career) after numerous ailments and surgeries, you can see why the Jazz made the move: to save some money. Seeing as the man’s face is pretty much everywhere, maybe they thought he wouldn’t notice. They thought wrong.
Michael Jordan filed a pair of lawsuits this week against two Chicago-area grocery store chains, Dominick’s and Jewel, for advertisements MJ says infringe on his trademark and business interests. In dispute are some full-page ads that ran in Sports Illustrated‘s all-Jordan Hall of Fame tribute issue. Read More »

To start the preseason, Michigan State and Texas were No. 2 and No. 3 respectively in the polls. Everyone saw Michigan State fall short in the national championship game and many predicted they would return to cut down the nets in 2010. Texas’ combination of youth (Avery Bradley and J’Covan Brown) and experience (Dexter Pittman and Damion James) makes them a national championship contender.
MSU’s season hasn’t gone exactly as planned, having lost to both of their opponents from major conferences (UNC and Florida). The somewhat shaky start to Sparty’s season has created a little more room on the bandwagon. Meanwhile, Bevo’s wagon is completely full. After Texas defeated North Carolina 103-90 and proved they were an elite team, more and more basketball fans have yelled “hook ‘em horns.” Later tonight, we see a team on the rise (Texas) face off against a team on a slight decline (MSU) and it will be the best game of the season thus far. While his Kentucky Wildcats are running through every obstacle in their path, John Calipari‘s controversial past never seems too far behind.
A couple weeks ago, Coach Cal appeared on ESPN’s “Pardon the Interruption” and even during a light, good-natured interview, had to answer questions about trouble his programs encountered at Memphis and UMass and whether it would be an issue at Kentucky. Then last week, Bob Knight made headlines when he used Calipari as an example of what he sees wrong with college basketball. Read More »

Marko Jaric is a winner in life. Not just because he played seven seasons in the NBA, but because he married the Cadillac of females, Adriana Lima. As the decade comes to a close, it seems like everywhere you look there is a best of the 2000s list. Even I was guilty of producing a best of list when listed best rookies of the decade. Don’t worry, this isn’t a best of list, I am simply asking which dunk from the last decade is your favorite? It doesn’t have to be the best dunk of the last ten years, just the one you will remember most. Maybe it is your favorite player dunking over your least favorite player or maybe it’s a dunk you experienced live. Tell us which dunk is your favorite, why it is your favorite and provide a YouTube link (if you can find one) in the comment section. Read More »
