Texts From Last Night? Soon Hall Of Fame Votes Too

Basketball Hall of Fame

If fans could vote in Tracy McGrady as a starter in this upcoming All-Star Game in Dallas, then why can’t they get him into the Hall of Fame as well? Former Suns owner and current USA Basketball Director Jerry Colangelo has recently been named the Hall’s newly elected chairman of the board. His first order of business is to involve fans and media in the voting process for Hall of Fame selections.

“Nothing is etched in concrete at this point,” Colangelo recently told ESPN.com. “I have to get my board to agree with me. I just believe it’s the right thing to do and when you believe that and you’re passionate about it, you usually can get something done.”

why should media have a vote?

sports media are WAY MORE BIASED than the fans!!
sports writers and reporters will deny entry to a player for not giving them interviews, sound bites and/or punchlines.

and i will never be convinced that a media sports writer in city A has any idea what is going on in city B.

how many sports writers in Atlanta stay up late enough to WATCH west coast games featuring Sacramento?!!?

probably ZERO. meaning, a sports writer would look at a box score and then decide how to write a column or preview/review a player.

at this rate, would Mitch Rock Richmond get enough media votes to get into the Hall?

I think most people on this board once voted for him in the “Hall of Fame Watch” columns last year. But would the media?..actual sports writers?

I dont think sports writers should have a vote.

I don’t think anyone should have a vote accept the people have been getting votes already. Please don’t give fans votes. If someone like T-mac got into the hall because of his popularity I’d feel like shooting myself.

That sounds like a T-Mac fans club website promoting some kind of special offer.

    hell no!

most fans have no idea wtf actually goes on during an NBA game. the hall of fame will become a popularity contest of epic proportions(it is already a popularity contest but atleast the voters no the difference between hedging and and going under a screen). You can say goodbye to great role players or great defenders as the hall would be overflowing with great scorers who haven’t won shit.

Please, somebody stop this man. If not for the credibility of the hall but for all the kids who dream of one day making it, so that when they do it actually means something.

i think hall of fame inductees should be voted in by their own peers not reporters
