Trevor Ariza Nearly Kills DeMar DeRozan
Clearly you’ve seen the above video of a frustrated Trevor Ariza nearly decapitating DeMar DeRozan, but what is the fallout from this? While no word has come from Stu Jackson in the NBA office, many expect at least a one-game suspension. What do you think?

karizmatic says:
I don’t know that’s a tough one..it looked kind of like a half hearted swing to me, like he had no real intention of hitting him but was frustrated. He’s definitely getting suspended for at least a game. I think a 5 game suspension is probably warranted just to make a point that it’s not acceptable to do that.

Dagomar says:
Horrible, dangerous, unsportsmanlike move from Ariza. Lost a lot of respect for him. I loved what Jack did, although it was funny to see Bosh jog over there wanting no part of any confrontation. He didn’t even look at Ariza but looked at Jack instead. I can’t wait until Evans finally plays and toughens up this team.

GBoone says:
It’s an absolute joke if Ariza only gets a one-game suspension for this UFC swing. The commentator had it right in “he should be glad he didn’t connect it”. If DeRozan had caught the brunt of that elbow, who knows what kind of damage it would have caused. Ariza deserves a hefty fine, a minimum three-game suspension, and a requirement to bake DeRozan’s mom a batch of cookies. This is unacceptable and harmful to a league that was just starting to get out of the “brawl” stigma it attained after the Auburn Hills riot.

kudos. says:
lol, it wasn’t really a swing at all. You guys really think that ariza was tryna go for the knockout from behind with 20,000 people watchin him? Looks more like a swipe at the ball, as the ball was above jarret jack a second ago.
December 14th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
mules says:
^huh? Jarret Jack wasn’t even in the picture until the play stopped. That was definitely a swing at DeRozan…whether it was out of frustration or with actual intent to do harm is another question. Either way he’ll get a few games to think about new ways to express his frustration.

Ariza went to the Kobe Elbows School of offense. That was a legit swing intended to cause damage. A BS move and belongs nowhere on the court. Fine him and give him at least one game off to think about how to improve his game. DeRozan had him cinched up.
@Kudos
Did you even watch the replay?

T$ says:
Clearly this guy, errrr THUG, has a problem on the court. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this from him. Remeber this? With the Lakers trailing by THIRTY…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qVdYIQ5Bnc
Rudy has had sever back pains ever since and just recently had surgery to fix the problem associated with disk alignment pinching a nerve. My point is Ariza is a thug. Stu Jackson, Mr. Stern, you paying attention? There’s no place for a thug like this in the league!

POPPI GEE says:
Wow I mean I am a Houston fan and all, but dang homey I think he gotta get 3 games for that.
That wasn’t like Skip’s “Oops up side ya head” to Eddie House.
Dude was going in on some put you out for good stuff.
Most def. 3 games. And on the real go sit down if you can’t get no O going and a dude locking you down on D before you do stupid stuff like that. A fight is one thing cause dude’s break it up quickly. When you doing a punk move from behind. That ain’t right.

Seeing that move made me think of Kobe… but then seeing the refs do something about it made me think otherwise.

Gunner J. Matthews says:
Thats almost like what Shaq did (or didnt do) to Brad Miller some years ago. It looks even worse since Trevor missed so it makes him looks even more guilty. A 2-game suspension might be just in this case

Captain Jean Luc-Picard says:
He was going for the ball, the one on DeRozan’s shoulders.

I had forgotten about that swipe that Ariza made on Rudy last year. The whole Rose Garden wanted his head on a stick…Ariza’s a punk.

i thought ariza’s lucky that he’s only got suspended for one game. He obviously took a swing at his guy and (fortunately) missed, else it would have been a lot more than a one-game ban.

Ariza’s a punk-ass. Too much pressure to be the man, can’t be the man. Oh well…..another mediocre player gettin too much props.

Aye everyone ease off..
hes dealing with the frustration of being the # 1 option.. when its all on u and it aint going the way u want (especially with a ROOKIE shutting u down) ur going to react negatively..
i wouldnt recommend throwin an elbow tho but still.. I mean he did play with Kobes lol u dont think Kobe gave him some advice on how to deal with pesky defenders?? he does deserve a suspension but he isnt a dirty player..
Just signed a big contract and dealing with the worst thing in all of sports.. PRESSURE..

foxsportswriter says:
If he connected, I guarantee you that it wouldn’t do much damage. The vast majority of NBA players are tall, lanky, have long arms, and are not trained to throw a punch with knockout power.
The exception is Ron Artest LOL

anyone who watches MMA should know the effect of a clean elbow to the back of the head. Ariza is a cowardly bitch and should be suspended for at least 3 games. Eventhough he missed the intention was there..

Yeah, Ariza needs to be booted this. That’s a bitch move. If you’re playing bad or getting shown up, that’s when you dig deep and compete harder.

Dagomar says:
Lakeshow, pressure is not being able to feed your kids. Pressure is not making millions a year to score. That’s a great opportunity. And either way, pressure is never an excuse for a malicious act, period.

Isn’t Ariza there to fill up the void left by Artest?
Trevor must have uncovered the secret stash in Ron-Ron’s old locker and took a few shots of Hennessey during halftime.
