Uber Pwnage

Andre Miller

In the free cable TV classic Face/Off, John Travolta the FBI agent and Nic Cage the criminal switch faces (it’s complicated and corny) and go about their good guy/bad guy business while basically being the other guy. Last night was like the NBA version of Face/Off, only instead of Travolta and Cage, it was starring Kadeem Hardison and Dolph Lundgren. Blazers/Mavs saw one guy drop 52 points and absolutely dominate down the stretch, using awkward herky-jerky moves to beat his defenders between sticking jumper after jumper. Dirk Nowitzki? Nope. LeBron James Destroys Danny Granger’s Shot

This is just savage. To go along with LeBron‘s 22-point, 13-assist performance is a route of the Pacers last night, ‘Bron also had four blocks, including this destruction of a Danny Granger drive. Poor Senor Buckets never had a chance …

Welcome Home, Roscoe

Rasheed Wallace

Last night’s Hawks/Celtics game was about as close as you’ll get on TV to seeing good ol’ confrontational angry NBA action in-person without the actual risk of Jermaine O’Neal punching you in the face. We’re not sure if the Atlanta crowd was extra quiet or the court mics were just extra loud, but throughout the game you could hear pretty much everything Rasheed Wallace and Kevin Garnett were saying, especially ‘Sheed … Playing in the building he called home for about 20 minutes once upon a time, ‘Sheed was in vintage form: Yelling at every teammate, cussing at every opponent, and abusing every ref. NBA Trade Rumor: Brendan Haywood or Brad Miller To Portland

Portland Trail Blazers

At the start of the season, there was no question that the Blazers had the most post depth in the League. But then the injuries hit. First Greg Oden fractured the patella in his left knee, and then Joel Przybilla ruptured his right patella tendon. As both of these happened in December, Portland hoped that 2010 would bring them some good news. But after going 5-5 in their last 10 games, and Utah jumping them in the Northwest Conference standings, it’s time to make a move. Read More »

Is Dwight Howard making any progress?

Dwight Howard (photo. adidas)

Maybe you’ve noticed the formula whenever the Orlando Magic play on national TV: Dwight Howard does something good on offense — a hook shot, a drop step, a jumper, basically anything beyond an alley-oop or a Chocolate Thunder dunk — and the announcers inevitably start talking about Patrick Ewing and his role as Dwight’s big-man mentor as the camera zooms in on Ewing looking like a gigantic History professor.

And maybe you’ve noticed the other half of the formula: That whenever Dwight has his stretches of invisibility or fails to show any offensive growth since high school, Ewing is never mentioned. Read More »

Hedo Turkoglu’s Hot New Catchphrase: “Ball”

Talk about awkward. After the Raptors came back from 5 points down with 2 minutes to go in the fourth quarter to beat the Knicks last night, Hedo Turkoglu was not exactly in a jovial mood after the game. The Toronto based TSN reporter Jack Armstrong, asked Turkoglu, “What was the different for you tonight, in terms of setting the tone with your game?” Hedo simply said “ball” and an awkward five seconds of silence followed. This Will Be The Last All Star Game That Won’t Feature Brook Lopez

Brook Lopez

The All-Star reserves were announced last night, and as expected, every writer, NBA analyst and fan had something to say about the coach’s selections. Among the biggest snubs that people have been fuming about are: David Lee, Josh Smith, Chauncey Billups, Chris Kaman, Aaron Brooks and Monta Ellis (For me personally it was Kaman and J-Smoove). Changing the World: Apple iPad

Apple iPad

You have to be actually living under a rock if you haven’t heard of Apple’s latest creation: iPad. A revolutionary device for browsing the web, reading and sending email, enjoying photos, watching videos, listening to music, playing games, reading e-books and much more, iPad as someone told me yesterday, could be the end to newspapers. And starting at only $499, it’s not going to break the bank either. Read More »
