Nike Zoom Kobe V Giveaway: Kobe’s Christmas Day Courtside Gift
If you thought yesterday’s giveaway was good, then you’re going to freak out at what we’ve got for you today. When I was in L.A. for the the Christmas Day game between the Lakers and the Cavs, you may have noticed some of the celebrities sitting courtside wearing some exclusive colorways of the new Nike Zoom Kobe V. That’s because Kobe decided to hook up the L.A. faithful with a special holiday gift. We just happened to get our hands on two pairs…
Seriously people, it doesn’t get more exclusive than this. We heard that Nike did up about 150 pairs (75 in each colorway) for the day, and these landed on the feet of everyone from Snoop Dogg and George Lopez to Andy Garcia and Sylvester Stallone. Designed through NIKEiD, they even have the date – 12.25.09 – under the tongue.
Because we have the best readers in the world, we wanted to giveaway the two pairs to you guys. So here’s how it’s going to go down. Because we want these to go to a nice home – and to someone that will actually wear them and not just list them on eBay – we’re not going to tell you what sizes they are. So when you leave your response, be sure to let us know what size you wear. All you have to do is answer the following question:

I volunteer coach for an AAU program here in Chicago and I got several kids who deserve it and I would love to give these shoes to. Our team wears purple so it would be perfect. I wear a size 12 so I doubt you have them in my size, but the avg 8th grade boy is about a size 9-10. and the avg 8th grade (basketball playing)girl is about 5-7 in mens.
Aside from that, I’m not going to go on about myself, it seems kinda selfish to brag about things I do that are “better” than the next guy.

I am the biggest KB24 fan there is. I have followed him sice he came into the league. I agree that he’s a love or hate him guy and thats really what I like about him the most. Its one or the other. My children when asked also think Kobe is the best player in the world and is thier fav player just like daddy. I can tell you about how KB24 got blasted when Shaq left and everybody was still feelin shaq. But what about Kobe, he’s the one that hit the jumper against the suns over the outstretched arm of JKidd. Hes the one who socred 8 straight buckets to beat Indy when shaq was on the bench. He’s the one that threw the lob to shaq against Portland. Hes the one that hit the Robert Horry for the game winning three against Portland to win the series. You see Kobe is the best!

As much as I would like to argue why I “deserve” these kicks and would love to receive them I am sure there are plenty of people more deserving than myself, or the majority of dimes readers.
My vote would be to either auction them off and donate the proceeds to a charity of dime’s choosing, or to give them to a deserving youngster who may have not had as priveleged a holiday season as some of us may have been lucky enough to enjoy.

I feel that I deserve these awesome kicks because I can use it to motivate kids. I am an after school mentor, coach, and HUGE Lakers fan. Above my office door, I have the famous Kobe quote, “Carpe Diem.” This is now my daily motto I preach to the kids. They can do anything they want, anything they put their mind to. The word “can’t” should not be in their vocabulary. Kobe is the perfect connection for them. Intensity and determination in whatever they believe. As great as Kobe is, he is that much greater than the next guy because he has spent endless hours training and honing his skills that make him fundamentally sound and prepared for those “Where Amazing Happens” moments. I use that as a driving force to let me know, as athletic and strong as he is, he is up at 3 AM every day to prepare and prevent that next guy from taking his spot. Grit, fortitude, and perseverance are the values that remind me that things are not handed to you, but you must work hard to achieve your goals. If I win, I will proudly display the goods in my office as proof that anything is indeed possible, and this is why I am taking a shot.

I feel I deserve them because I sit through every laker game on TV, no matter how excruciatingly painful it could get (from the close wins to the blowout losses), I work 40 hours a week, go to school, can’t afford to go to a Laker game yet, and throughout the 12 years ive lived in Cali, the lakers are the only team that I’ve stuck with through everything. The lakers affect my mood, win and im happy, lose and I’m frustrated, ready to debate anybody about why “that game was bullshit”. Basketball is the only sport I know, coming from a soccer-hungry Argentina. Kobe and the Lakers are the reason for me reading your Dime daily, and the reason why I subscribed to your Mag.
I am a size 12, but if you won’t give em to me, give them to my 18 year old, 6 foot 7, size 15 little brother. He’s followed in my footsteps, and he loves the lakers as much as I do. It would be cool if you have that size and for him to get those shoes. He’s still got a college career ahead of him, and he works real hard on his game. He deserves them as well.

I am one of the True Female fans of the NBA and dime readers. I remember watching great ballers perform their magic on the court with my father and brother! If I say how long I would be telling my age.

He used to always have new shoes every week but over the past 2 years he’s stopped flossing so he can provide for his young family. I truly believe that what goes around comes around. About 1 year ago I gave a pair of KOBE Bryant shoes away. I really thought they were comfortable and nice looking but I knew of someone that liked KOBE a whole lot more than me so I gave them to that person. Since then I have began to appreciate KOBE more. I also think his attitude has improved and would love to once again rock a pair of KOBE’s. And yes, I would hoop in them.

Why do I deserve to win?
I don’t live in LA but have always followed the Lakers & don’t ever miss a game by watching NBA TV & League Pass. I may be the only female who can actually talk the talk about basketball & know more than my male friends. My dream one day is to go to Staples Center and actually see them play there but I’ve been fortunate enough to see them for pre-season play in Las Vegas & in Portland, OR playing the Trailblazers. I drive 3 hours one way just so I can watch them play there but it is worth it to see the Lakers play in person.

First off all, in a city full of fake fans, I’m one of the hardcore legit ones. When they were all jumping ship post-Shaq, I and rest of the true fans stuck by loyally KNOWING that Jerry Buss would not dissapoint. The Lakers are the greatest franchise in sports history, bar none, and fans like me knew we would be where we are today.
When the Lakers were threepeating, I pulled out the ol’ #8 and sported it proudly. When they were god awful and the Clippers had a better record, I pulled out the ol’ #8 and sported it proudly. When the parade rolled around a couple of days ago, I pulled out the ol’ #8 and sported it proudly. And speaking of the parade, I chose repping for the squad over going to class for my first exam of the summer, so I pretty much took the fail on the first one just to get the chance to see the purple and gold fam shine full force.
I’ve never been about that fakeness of putting your flag up on the car when the squad is balling, but keeping it locked in the attic 24/7 on their few down years.
My hardcore, absolutely unwaivering loyalty to the franchse for god knows how long should earn me the right to wear these shoes proudly. Frankly, they’re so baller, you’d have to pay me to stop wearing it every other day (not everyday, cuz that’s just dirty).
Anyway, dime, please help me go towards the all star break right, and let me get my hands on one pair of those sick shoes.

I deserve these because I’m a Celtics fan that’s had to listen to all the Lakers hype for the last few years and I’m sick of it (but I love the kicks and can get beyond it for style.) I also get a lot of crap from my buddies that my shoe game isn’t as on-point as theirs (meaning I don’t have 20 pairs of Js like they do) so I’d love to wear these to shut them up! for performance too.

I deserve a pair of these kicks for many reasons. One, I had to miss the freakin’ christmas games because I was spending Christmas with the gf’s family. Two, because her family doesn’t like basketball, which bothers me a lot. Three, I went to the “Kobe Runs” thing that you guys posted up sometime around Christmas but took it down like later that day I think. Well, I happen to go to this site a lot so I was able to save the images and the waiver before you guys deleted that post or whatever it was. The “Kobe Runs” thing was on December 28. So the invitation, if you want to call it that, said the first 50 people get a special gift from Kobe, Me, being a big Lakers and Kobe fan, decided to sleep over the night before the event with a friend. It was my first time at the HAX Facility in Hawthorne and I had no idea it was a freakin hangar at a frkn airport! Either way, we were sent packing about 3 times by security guards, somewhere in there we found a 24 hour fitness center with the gym still open so we played ball with some dudes for about an hour. So we find a spot to sleep, after debating whether to go home or stay there. The spot we found was like almost right in front of the HAX facility but we slept outside of a gate thinking we were okay from the security guards. About 15 minutes later one of the security guards came knocking at my car window telling us that we had just parked outside of a government building and that Hawthorne police was on their way. Me and my friend were scared as shit at the moment and since the security guard gave us a quick minute to leave, we left, but not home. I was too determined to get that gift and play some ball at HAX facility that we went to go watch that Chipmunks: Squeakel movie at a weird looking 24-hr movie theatre. I was scared, I mean I thought I was gonna pass out . . . but the movie wasn’t THAT bad. After that we slept in front of a house. The only cool security guard gave us a number, before we were kicked out, to call at 7am. We did but it was a wrong number but we decided to go to HAX since it opens at 7am. We get there, I start throwing up. The event doesnt start ’til 2pm. I’m the first one there and I had to wait hours and hours. Finally they told me that I would only get one of the first 50 gifts if I had the shoes, I had them and it was only a freakin’ LA MVPuppets t-shirt. Yeah, one of the ones you were giving away the other day, and the foam hands. I was mad, sick and tired after I played some ball. Sadly, there was only about 60 people there, max. Well, this story explains why I deserve those shoes. I dont mind which colors, but I did get the purple t-shirt so it would be fitting if I get the purple shoes. I use size 9.5 or 10.

I’ve been an avid Dime reader for a couple years now, this is my firt ever post here though. These shoes are definitely worth a post. I need these shoes to wear at the Raptor game this month against L.A. in Tdot. I would wear them along with my Kobe #8 jersey from ’97. I used to ball in the original Adidas Kobe’s. They were crazy light and comfortable, but these Zoom Kobe V’s are on another level. No way in hell I would sell these on ebay. Only a fool would let these babies go. ok, i’m not an aau coach or PE teacher like some of these guys, but i do volunteer at the local ymca and help out at the boys and girls club. but the only reason why i’d want these shoes arent even for me. my best friend since the 3rd grade is gettin married in march and i’ve been lookin for a wedding gift to give him. i dont want to fly out to kansas from cali w/ a tie and shirt combo from tj maxx, you guys. he’s a huge kobe fan and as the best man, i would really love to give him a gift from his boy that would kinda show him, “hey man, we’ve been boys through and through, go start your new lift w/ the girl now”. something nice since its the last time he’ll be happy.

He’s 3 years older than me and we’ve been playing 1-on-1 since I can remember walking (I’m losing 203-141 but I’m catching up quick). I hated him. He’d beat me and always rub it in my face just cause he’s hella better at trashtalking than me. Also I always had to wear his raggedly ass old shoes cause my momma wouldn’t buy me new ones when I had his “perfectly good” shoes (Ma, they had holes). The thing is, I look back and I gotta thank him. He lit that fire and I’m gonna be a baller for life (or at least try). I am enamored by basketball now all because of him. He didn’t humor me when I was 7 and I could barely handle the ball, he taught me ernestly. Now I have a good looking stroke, basketball IQ, fundamentals, etc etc. I owe him.
All I got him for Christmas were ankle supports and arm bands this year. I can’t afford much else. It was lame. This would be the best present he ever got in his life. Haha, he’d owe ME for life (or at least good 5 years).
Plus you know, he always saying now he losing to me cause his shoes suck. Psh, I’m gonna take him out even if he’s rocking exclusive Kobes and I’m in Japanese sandals. Let’s see him bitch if he gets new shoes!

I was sad when the hornets drafted him but excited when they traded vlade for him. He has the most exciting game ever makes difficult shots look easy. I deserve these because everyday I go and run about 5 games with homeless people. You would be shocked that some of them have skills. Anyway me and one particular homeless cat go way back cause we went to school together and he fell on hard times do to some choices and his attitude.
Now I could lie I would give the shoes to him but I ain’t. Forget him! He prolly the best one out of the homeless ballers and always be trying to show me up either on the court or verbally.
See we call him Snotty Roc, cause…well you don’t wanna know but anyway being that we went to school together he knows my family and some of my friends and stuff we did in school back then.
So before, during or after games he is always calling me out telling people about fat girls that I fingered and turns out she had crabs and I got nervous and was washing my hand with Clorox for a week. Or he telling folks about how my Uncle has war flashbacks at the bank or supermarket and crawls on his stomach telling folks to get down and throwing stuff like it’s grenades. The biggest one is he always trying to talk about the one time I ate 3 buckets of large popcorn on a dare and I ended up throwing up and dookying on myself and how it was running down my leg and had popcorn seeds in it, so he always calling me “Seedy”.
I wanna show that homeless bastard up so bad! Please please please give me the shoes so I can floss on him. I am so sick of him and his crap. I deserve these please DIME, help “Seedy” come out on top!

When I was a fifth grader in 1996-97 and in my first year or organized basketball. My teacher asked the class to practice letter writing by writing to any company in America. As my passion for basketball was budding, I chose to write to the Los Angeles Lakers. I sent the letter with little to no hope of ever hearing anything back. Three weeks later I received an envelope in the mail from El Segundo, CA. Enclosed in the envelope was a team picture with photocopied autographs in the white border of the picture.
From that moment on I was a die-hard lakers fan. I’ve owned everything from a #25 Eddie Jones Jersey to a Free-Kobe.com t-shirt. I still own and wear my first Lakers piece ever. It is a shooting shirt from the first year the Lakers were sponsored by Nike ( no collar, 2 snap buttons in the middle).
Living in Maryland, there have been so many late nights watching the Lakers play and then having to be in school 6 hours later. The best school night game was the .4 game where i literally woke up every person in my house yelling and running up and down the stairs at least 7 times!
Last year I had the opportunity to do a year of service in LA, and was even more fortunate to attend game 5 of the NBA FINALS. However, we all know how that ended. I was back in Maryland this season but still attended Lakers games in Philly, DC, and NJ and even met Lakers trainer Garry Vitti in Manhattan the day of the Nets Game!
My girlfriend and I booked a trip to LA so we could see some friends we and so she could see the students she tutored ( she did service out there too). I not-so- secretly pushed for our trip to be June 10-16 becuase I knew this would be during the finals. As you all know the finals concluded June 14th and while the Lakers were on the road I was at Yard House (a bar directly across the street from Staples adjacent to the new West Coast ESPN HQ) and was able to rejoice in the streets with what I consider my brotherhood.
I think I deserve the KOBE V’s because I truly bleed gold and purple. With or without the shoes I will be a Lakers fan until the day that I die.
PS. Everything I talked about can be verified physically, except for the team photo in 96-97 which can be verified by my mother!
and if I’m so lucky to win a 11.5 or 12 in the yellow/white/purple colorway will graciously work just fine.

I’m a diehard Kobe fan, I’ve owned over 75% of his kicks, including his ugly Adidas Audi-TT-inspired-astronaut shoes. On September 29th (a week after my birthday) I was hoopin with the Zoom Kobe 1′s (White on white), went up for a rebound and came down on someone’s foot. Rolled my ankle, tore my ligaments and fractured my ankle. I was on crutches for the first 2 months, Aircast walking boot for another, and now am finally rehabbing my ankle. I still walk with a limp. I vowed never to wear the Zoom 1′s again nor play ball for a very long time. However, if I’m the winner of these shoes, I’ll be back on the court sooner than expected.
Size 10.5 I’d prefer the darker ones, but will be grateful for either.

oh, I know why these would rock–all my basketball shoes are black (I ref ball, so I try and kill two birds with one stone when I purchase) so it would be nice to have something other than black shoes to wear. Plus, when I volunteer to work the Special Olympics (I do get a tax write-off for my time, I’ll never be confused for a saint) I’d rock em even though they won’t match my stripes…and the players will love them…seriously, as a ref, you will never catch as many high fives from players than at the Special Olympics…
Another fun fact: you can win a gold medal even if you’re not developmentally disabled. Its called unified team basketball and the disabled players have to score more than the nondisabled members but they can facilitate the offense and rebound, and play with their family members–stuff like that. I, however, had no idea that some of these people were not retarded–I just thought some of them were more “with it” than the others.

1) I think Kobe is the best player hands down in the NBA. Better than DWade, better than Melo, and better than Lebron.
2) I’m a Boston fan, and throughout the finals I was rooting for Kobe to win merely off of killer instinct alone. Very conflicting Finals for me.

I’m such a fan that I’m the sneakerhead moderator on his official website and I try to give kb24 members the best information to get his exclusive shoes. I let them know release date and if they are Quickstrikes or GRs and the update the group with game pictures for EVERY game he plays.

I am an avid collector of Kobe’s shoes as well, I have in my collection over 70 pairs of Kobe shoes collected over a period of 5 years ( I did get some of the adidas line). Firstly, size 8.5 or 9. (it seems as though with the V’s a 9 has worked best when on the court playing)….
Secondly, I will sport these kicks, not only to every Lakers game that I attend, but also to the gym when I go to shoot hoops….
After all, these kicks are a performance based shoe meant to be used on the basketball court…
Not necessarily to be worn casually around town (although this doesnt entail you cannot do that).
I feel I should get these kicks because I have 13 pairs of Kobe IV’s and am already in the hunt for all the Kobe V’s….
This would be a great addition to my already sick collection of kicks.

In 2001 I dressed up in my Lakers pants, shaq jersey, lakers bootleg mesh hat to the Delta Center. The only thing was that this was a Trailblazers-Jazz game. I was there to give everyone a preview of what to expect the next week when the Lakers would come to town and 200 or so of us would be dressed just like that. So just before the game started I walked down to the floor and stood on the steps during the national anthem. I remember Scottie Pippen looking at me like I was some kind of idiot. Can you imagine the look on his face if I was dressed like that at a Jazz-Trailblazers game with those shoes?!
I can still do it but the Pippen role will have to be played by Jeff “Teddy” Pendergraph.

It’s hard being a kobe/laker fan in oregon. i can’t even say “kobe” or “lakers” without some talking crap on how the lakers always lose in portland. Wearing Kobe’s gives me the lethal Black Mamba swagger on the court so I can take over when the game is on the line. Really? I got a girl who is having major problems at home, she has even gone missing for a couple days this year. She has plenty of untapped potiential and could very well be a division 1 prospect. The shoes that she play in are a old pair or worn out Jordans. And she happens to wear #24 come to think of it. I’m sure she’d love to have these shoes and I highly doubt any of the other girls would be “jealous” of her situation.

I’m a huge Laker fan and a big Kobe fan. I’m a size 11, but the size wouldn’t matter. I try to be involved with a number of charity events every year. If I got a pair of these shoes, I’d mount them, then donate them for a silent auction for a local charity up here in Canada.

hi, i’m from Manila, Philippines. Fortunately for me , our neighbor allows me to use their internet for 45mins only. and i was able to chance on this website. I love basketball and i never really get the chance to own any pair of kobe zoom basketball shoes, i only wear worn out shoes not needed by our school varsity. I just hope that luck will be on my side and i’ll get to own a pair of these shoes. Because what was given to me were either too small or too big so i always ended up hurting my feet and ankles, my size is 10u.s. i hope to get one of these pairs.
