Coming into last night’s show, Jay Leno obviously didn’t do much research on his guest Michael Jordan. If he did, he would have known that you never question anything MJ can do on a basketball court – even if he’s been retired for over six years. In an interview via satellite with the basketball legend, Leno asked Jordan, “Can you still dunk?” Jordan, in complete disbelief that Leno asked that quipped, “Can I still dunk? Are you stupid???” Read More »
Is there a particular reason why Chris Kaman gets no love? You can argue that the Los Angeles Clippers big man is the most dominant center in the West right now, yet he rarely gets press and he damn sure gets no fan love. As of the latest All-Star voting results, Kaman was not even in the top 10 of centers in the West despite averaging 20.4 ppg, 9.3 rpg and 1.4 bpg for the season. Read More »

The pressure is certainly on for several teams that have coveted 2010 free agents. GMs are faced with a huge dilemma. Do they keep their star and risk losing him in the offseason? Or do they trade him now and get something in return while they still can? The trade deadline is one month away and big decisions are going to have to be made. One of those teams that could pull the trigger on a blockbuster trade are the Phoenix Suns. ESPN’s Chad Ford is reporting that the Suns are 40 to 50 percent likely to move All-Star forward Amar’e Stoudemire. Read More »
Trust, I’m not even coming at you on some “Give the fans what they want!” angle. Even in a climate where fans are tight with their money, your team fills arenas wherever you travel. Last time I checked, you have the second highest-selling jersey in the NBA. You’re pretty much a lock to start every All-Star Game for the rest of your career. And it’s not just because you’ve been dominating, but also because you’ve made an effort to be entertaining at the same time. In other words, you’re already giving the fans what they want, perhaps more than any other athlete in the world. So I understand why committing to an ultimately meaningless dunk contest during an already hectic All-Star Weekend seems entirely unnecessary. Read More »
LeBron is just trying to get people mad at him for not taking part in the dunk contest, isn’t he? In his first game since the All-Star 2010 dunk field was announced and he wasn’t part of it, ‘Bron (28 pts, 9 rebs, 11 asts, 3 blks, 3 stls) not only polished off a few contest-worthy dunks against the Raptors last night, he made one of the All-Star dunk contestants look like he has no business sharing air space with the King … First half, Mo Williams drove baseline left, and while Toronto’s post defenders turned to their heads, LeBron cut on a back-pick and was set up for an easy two-hand double clutch dunk. (This was after ‘Bron met DeMar DeRozan at the rim and ate his layup attempt alive.) Read More »
When you have a platform, it’s always better to do something positive rather than doing nothing at all. With that in mind, my friend Matt Halfhill from NiceKicks.com is rallying the troops for a great cause, and I thought I’d spread the word. Matt got in touch with Soles4Souls to put together something where sneakerheads across the U.S. could help out in Haiti. Providing shoes to the people of Haiti is just one thing that you can do to make a huge impact. Below are three easy ways to help. Read More »
