This past Saturday (Jan. 16), the House of Hoops Chainlink Fundamentals Clinic went down at Columbia University in New York City. Nearly 100 boys and girls aged 12-18 came out and participated. This HOH clinic was a little different from past clinics because it was held during Martin Luther King Weekend. In honor of the late, great Dr. King, the clinic also featured a “Leave Your Mark” service challenge. Read More »

Who is your favorite “underground” or undiscovered artist?
My 10-year high school reunion is later this year. If there was ever a signature, “Damn, I’m old!” moment you can have in your 20′s, this is definitely in the top three.
And if I’m keeping accurate track of my Facebook updates, I’m expecting to see no less than six or seven up-and-coming (a.k.a. underground, a.k.a. starving) hip-hop/R&B artists in the building. Teddy Dupay’s prep career in the state of Florida is legendary. He was part of the same 1998 McDonald’s All American class that boasted Rashard Lewis, Tayshaun Prince, Mike Miller and Corey Maggette. He left Cape Coral Mariner High School as the all-time leading prep scorer in the state’s history with 3,434 points (a record that still stands). While you’d expect the former Florida Gator to be in the NBA right now, he’s actually not playing professional basketball. In fact, he doesn’t even have a normal job. What he is doing, is working tirelessly on a movement that he believes will not only make him rich, but will stimulate the country’s lagging economy.
The combination of Michael Redd going down with a season-ending knee injury on Jan. 10 and the mounting losses in Milwaukee, the Bucks were forced to acquire somebody who can help fill Redd’s void and hopefully provide the team with a spark going into the second half of the season. Yesterday, the Bucks signed free-agent guard/forward, Jerry Stackhouse, for the rest of the season. Read More »

How huge was this play for the Oklahoma City Thunder? Jeff Green’s dunk on Josh Smith was not only a SportsCenter worthy play, but it proved to be the biggest basket of the game. This basket, along with the free throw (Smith fouled him on the dunk), gave OKC the five point lead with just 12 seconds to go on the clock. The Thunder ended up winning the game 94-91. Read More »
