Ranking the League from worst to first…
30. New Jersey Nets (3-40)
Last week: Lost at Phoenix; lost at Golden State; lost at Utah.
You know how some teams can play any style and win? The Nets have become adept at losing with any style. Last week they lost trying to run. They also lose in the halfcourt, lose when they go big, lose when they go small, lose with a youth movement, lose with vets, lose at home, lose on the road … their company softball team probably stinks, too.
29. Minnesota Timberwolves (9-36)
Last week: Lost to Oklahoma City; lost to New Orleans; lost at Milwaukee.
If you’re into moral victories, the Wolves can be proud of at least taking the Thunder and Hornets down to the wire. The talent and competitiveness is there; you just see the execution failures that come with a young team. Read More »

In the past few weeks, NBA teams have been reaching into the D-League pool incessantly. Since our last D-League Hot Hand post on Jan. 11, there have been four more D-League call ups: Mario West (Hawks), Anthony Tolliver (Warriors), JamesOn Curry (Clippers) and Cedric Jackson (Cavs). The total of D-Leaguers called up in the 2009-10 season is now up to nine.
On top of guys earning 10 day contracts, several former D-League players have been making some noise. Sundiata Gaines hit a game winner against the Cavs a couple of weeks ago and has recently been signed for the rest of the season. With NBA players getting injured left and right, expect more and more D-Leaguers to get promoted in the coming weeks. Here are five players we think will be next. Read More »

Based on the success of the Zoom Kobe IV and Zoom Kobe V, Nike has come back with something amazing: the Zoom Kobe M.S. Designed for outdoor basketball, the Zoom Kobe M.S. (Make Sense) is based on the design of Zoom Kobe V, but all the materials are different. And unlike the ZKV’s one piece construction, the upper of the M.S. is constructed by different parts of leather. Read More »

Ever since NBA Live 10 dropped, we’ve been waiting for this day. If you were playing the game last night, some of you may have noticed that with the latest Dynamic DNA that went into the game, Kobe and LeBron received their new signature shoes in a variety of colorways. Every Friday, EA Sports will slowly be releasing new shoes into the game, but take a look at some of the new colorways of the Zoom Kobe V and Air Max LeBron VII: Read More »

A lot of people (including me) thought the Blazers were crazy when they gave Andre Miller that three-year, $21 million contract over the summer. After all, the team was already high on Steve Blake and people doubted that Miller’s style would fit in with Portland’s style. For the first few months of the season, it was proving to be a bad fit. Miller was unhappy with not starting and his chemistry with the teammates and coaches didn’t appear to be there. A trade seemed to be destined to happen. Read More »

Beast of the Night: Chris Paul finished with 24 points, 7 boards, 12 dimes, 5 steals, 2 turnovers and hit 3 threes. He shot 53 percent (9-17) from the field and 100 percent (3-3) from the line and though he’s playing second fiddle to LeBron James so far this season, there’s still a chance he could end up as the top fantasy player yet again. Some experts think the All-Star Game should be reserved for players on winning teams, but I’m willing to overlook the win-loss record of the front of the jersey if the name on the back of the jersey is putting in honorable work.
Yesterday I made up a 2010 Western Conference squad of All-Stars from teams currently holding Lottery spots. Today is the East side. Those eligible: Bucks, Knicks, Pistons, Sixers, Pacers, Wizards and Nets.
Backcourt — Brandon Jennings & Rodney Stuckey
Solid guard play is the Golden Ticket in college hoops, but if you look at what’s going on in the NBA, clearly it crosses over to the League as well. Read More »

I think at this point, Amar’e Stoudemire is all but gone from Phoenix. As I mentioned in an article last week, it’s unlikely that Stoudemire and the Suns are going to agree on an extension that will satisfy both parties. Plus, there’s plenty of speculation that Amar’e wants to bolt to a bigger market anyway. Now that the divorce is inevitable, the question now remains: Which zip code will STAT relocate to?
