Chase Budinger Steals, Jukes And Drains Three At The Buzzer

Chase Budinger is one of those guys that has always had talent. That’s never been the issue. But for a guy that slipped from potential lottery pick to the second round, this year has definitely been humbling for the rookie. Luckily, the Rockets love the kid, and he’s been killing it of late. Averaging almost 27 minutes a night in his last five games, Chase has also gone for double digits in each for the first time this season. Check out this ridiculous play from last night’s game against the Hornets, where Chase steals the pass, goes behind-the-back and nails a pull-up three at the buzzer. Thanks to ClutchFans for the video.

Why aren’t more of his teammates congradulating him on a nice play. If that was Lebron or Kobe they would be all on his jock.

“Juke” is slightly overstating it isn’t it?

Ya it looked like he traveled, but they NEVER make those calls. Nice play

  5. Juan Rodriguez says:

Not a travel. It looks like it, but @ :34 he stops dribbling, then takes two steps and makes his left foot his pivot foot and plants the other one…So I don’ think that’s a travel. I could be wrong…

Any chance Peja stays in the league after his monstrosity of a contract comes off the books? He’s by far the worst value in the entire league.

  7. isotope says:

Yeah, i thought it was a travel at first but after replaying it a couple times, maybe not. After receving the ball from his last dribble, he only takes two steps. He takes a couple steps before then but it can’t be a travel because the ball wasnt in his hands. Make sense?

  8. Kevin K says:

    you blind? it’s a travel

  9. POPPI GEE says:

He should be getting more tick to do what he do. The boy is nice. Also dude can score and the Rockets need points. Sit Ariza’s all I can really do is hit 3′s inconsistently self dowon and let Chase get them minutes.

    WAT?!? travel…

  11. nola says:

it may or may not be a travel depending on how you interpret the rules. the ball’s not in his hands when he takes the steps and once he grabs the ball out of his dribble, he sets his left foot as pivot foot and then steps into his shot with his right foot. this is essentially the same dribble that lebron does every drive.

in a sense i guess you are allowed to taking as many steps as you want while the ball is being dribbled, there’s no rule against that. but once you stop your dribble and the ball is in your hands, the next two steps you take are set.

it still looks weird to me and i dont know, i still think it’s just too many steps for them to be taking.

Chase is that guy. He just always been one that never had to work hard for his. The guy is 6’7, with a nice shot.. and a 42″ vertical.
