NBA Trade Rumor: Tyrus Thomas To The Bobcats (Updated)

Tyrus Thomas (photo. John Sturdy)

Just minutes after writing that Hakim Warrick‘s arrival in Chicago means Tyrus Thomas is on his way out, CBSSports.com’s Ken Berger is reporting that the Bobcats are close to landing Thomas in a deal that would send expiring contracts and a future No. 1 pick to Chicago. While no names have surfaced, this is what we can deduce. Read More »

Updated: John Salmons Traded To The Bucks For Hakim Warrick & Joe Alexander

John Salmons

Last night, word broke that John Salmons was being shipped to Milwaukee in return for Kurt Thomas and Francisco Elson – a deal that saw the Bucks really giving up nothing to get a starter in Salmons. Today, the Associated Press is reporting that the Bucks have instead agreed in principle to a trade that would send Hakim Warrick and Joe Alexander to the Bulls for Salmons. This deal, I’m not that big a fan of. Read More »

Fantasy Analysis: Jamison, T-Mac, K-Mart, Salmons and Darko

Kevin Martin

The Cavs are locked and loaded for a solid run at the championship, a disgruntled former superstar finds a new home (and maybe another one before the day’s up), the Bulls are in an even better position to make a splash this summer and a perennial lump of dead weight now finds himself with 10,000 lakes to drown in. That pretty much sums up all the NBA trade action from Wednesday night into Thursday morning, in what has shaped up to be a trade season that has lived up to expectations so far. Here’s a quick rundown of the fantasy implications. Read More »

Amar’e Stoudemire’s Agent: “Not sure that he will be traded at this point”

Amar'e Stoudemire

While Antawn Jamison very well could keep LeBron James in Cleveland, let’s be honest: he’s no Amar’e Stoudemire. And last night, during a game in which Stoudemire dropped 30 points and 14 boards on the Mavs in a loss, it appeared that all the trade rumors surrounding STAT may have ended after Cleveland decided to go in a different direction, mainly, one that they could give up less and get more. So with the Cavs out of the running, according to Stoudemire’s agent, Happy Walters, Amar’e could be with the Suns the rest of the year. Read More »

Daily Fantasy Diagnosis: 2.18

Dwight Howard

Beast of the Night: Dwight Howard had himself his best game of the season, putting up 33 points, 17 rebounds, 3 assists, 7 blocks and just 1 turnover. He also shot 69 percent (11-16) from the floor and 85 percent (11-13) from the free throw line. This game was something else, but it’s not the start of a trend. Read More »

Antawn Jamison may be the man to keep LeBron in Cleveland

LeBron covers Dime #47

Just like everything else that has happened to the Cavaliers over the last seven years, Wednesday’s acquisition of Antawn Jamison inevitably has everything to do with LeBron James‘ future.

Going into the trading season, the only thing we knew was that Cleveland would make some move for somebody’s power forward: Whether it was Amar’e Stoudemire or Jamison or Troy Murphy or (gulp) Corey Maggette was the open question mark. Read More »

The Washington Wizards Blew It Up, And Have Started Over… Again

Washington Wizards

Before the season, I made a pretty bold declaration by writing that the Washington Wizards could win the championship this year. And on paper, I still stand behind that statement. But when your whole starting five from the beginning of the season is gone by the trade deadline – something that I bet has never happened before – all expectations are thrown out the window. NBA Trading Day: McGrady to Sacramento for K-Mart; LeBron gets an All-Star Plan B

Tracy McGrady

For two guys who were mentioned so often throughout the NBA trading deadline frenzy, it never seemed likely that Tracy McGrady and Kevin Martin would directly cross paths the way they did late Wednesday night. As we sent this Smack to post, the deal (almost finalized) has T-Mac, Carl Landry and Joey Dorsey going to Sacramento for K-Mart, Hilton Armstrong, Sergio Rodriguez and Kenny Thomas … There were still reports that the Knicks could be brought in last-minute and T-Mac could end up in New York, but as it stands, this is a good move for both sides. Breaking News: John Salmons Traded To The Bucks

John Salmons

Earlier tonight, we reported that the Bulls were holding John Salmons out of tonight’s game against the Knicks in anticipation of a trade. According to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski, that trade has now consummated in the form of Salmons being shipped to Milwaukee in return for Kurt Thomas and Francisco Elson. Read More »

NBA Trade Rumor: The Knicks Clear Even More Cap Space For LeBron & Co.

LeBron James

If most NBA teams don’t want to see LeBron James end up in New York, then they should stop making trades that allow them to do just that and steal another marquee free agent along the way. According to ESPN.com’s Chad Ford, the Knicks have a deal in principle that would send Darko Milicic to the Timberwolves for Brian Cardinal, with a trade call scheduled for Thursday morning.
