As loyal Dimemag.com reader Sans commented in today’s Smack, you could make the argument that Dwyane Wade actually pulled back in mid-air instead of really going after J.J. Hickson‘s dunk on this clip. But when it comes down to it, hasn’t Wade dunked on enough people to know how this usually turns out?
We were talking last night about how Hickson, who is listed at 6-9 (but in reality is probably 6-6 or 6-7 Read More »
The LeBron/Dwyane Wade matchup started off well, didn’t it? Despite the fact that ‘Bron came out doing his Kobe “facilitator” thing for most of the first quarter (he started at PG because Daniel Gibson missed the beginning of the game to be with his pregnant fiancée at the hospital), he and Wade both locked in and got down to attacking the hoop. James finished the first half with 19, Wade with 18, and it looked like the second half would be a shootout … Not so much. Wade couldn’t by a bucket ‘til late in the fourth, and by then Miami was down double-digits. The game turned into a yawner and the Cavs rolled to an easy 102-86 win. James finished with what felt like an easy 36 points, seven boards and eight assists, and Wade ended up with 24 and nine dimes … With the guys who were being trotted out to the slaughter by being assigned to guard LeBron Read More »
Although you thought this day may have never come, it has. According to ESPN.com’s Marc Stein and J.A. Adande, the Clippers have decided to relieve Mike Dunleavy of his coaching duties with just 32 games left in the season. Sources told ESPN.com that the Clippers intend to name Clippers assistant Kim Hughes as interim coach. Read More »
In a lot of people’s eyes, Amar’e Stoudemire and Andre Iguodala are the future (if not current) centerpieces of their respective franchises. But clearly both young stars are expendable.
According to ESPN and RealGM, the Suns and Sixers are discussing a trade that would send Amar’e to the Sixers for Iguodala and Sam Dalembert. Reportedly, the Suns are more eager to get this done than Philly — I’d imagine either because the Sixers don’t want to get stuck paying Amar’e $17 million next season (if he doesn’t opt-out), or because they’re hesitant to give up their most talented wing player and best defender for another big man with noted defensive weaknesses. As if Toronto fans weren’t tortured enough having to watch the New Jersey Nets stink up their arena, last night’s halftime show featured the incomparable Robert Van Winkle.
Stan Heath, whose eight-year head coaching career has already included three NCAA tournament appearances and two NBA players (Ronnie Brewer & Sonny Weems), is building something special at the University of South Florida. After leading the Bulls to the school’s first victory against a top-10 ranked team – a 57-56 win against No. 8 Marquette last February – Heath is at it again. The Bulls have caught fire recently, beating No. 7 Georgetown last night for their fourth Big East victory in a row, after they beat No. 17 Pitt on Sunday. Read More »
In the final seconds of the fourth quarter of last night’s Sixers/Bulls game, Philly was down one with the ball. Allen Iverson was not in the building, as he was home dealing with a family illness. Elton Brand and Andre Iguodala, respectively, were having perhaps their best games of the season.
But even I’ve seen enough Sixers games to know what every Philly fan was fearing most: Lou Williams was going to take it upon his shoulders to lose this game. Read More »
Besides from losing their games last night, N.C. State’s Javier Gonzalez and Mizzou’s Kim English had to go to sleep also thinking about the vicious dunks that Virginia’s Mustapha Farrakhan and Texas A&M’s Ray Turner gave them. Read More »
