Andrew Bogut Obliterates The Gooch
I think Smack summed it up best: “Andrew Bogut caught Big Baby Gooch with one of the meanest dunks of the season. It wasn’t even the dunk itself, but more how BBG took the posterization. He went up with Bogut, got smashed on, landed upright but then stumbled for a few steps before falling to the ground. It was like watching Joe Frazier take those bombs from George Foreman and fall down in sections.

Can Glenn Davis even dunk? He was at his peak during the jump and he looked like me MIGHT have got high enough to do a one hand grip of the rim.

In my 5 years following Dime, There has been little that has annoyed me more that Dime writers trying to force us to call Big Baby The Gooch. One of the worst, and most arbitrary nicknames ever. Since when do a bunch of readers/writers of a blog VOTE on somebody’s new nickname? Dime usually you are so true to the roots of basketball culture, and lets be honest it’s just not done this way. We get our names on the playground, in our families and our high school, college an professional teammates. Not an internet community…

I don’t really have a problem with the name The Gooch in and of itself.
I do have a problem with giving in to Big Baby’s demand for a nickname change. This reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where George tries to give himself the nickname T-Bone, but nobody goes along. Big Baby is a Big Baby until he proves otherwise.

i remember that episode, classic. I can just imagine Big Baby walking around calling himself the gooch trying to scare people; “I ain’t Big Baby, call me the Gooch”. Still a crappy nickname, but I like it better when imagining baby yelling at everyone around him “I’M THE GOOCH!”

I love it! Nothing better than watching the Gooch tumble over and struggle to get up like a small child in a large snow suit (x-mas story). Made my day. the announcers need to listen to Stacy King (Bulls color commentator) more so they can pick up better catch phrases and learn how to make the play more exciting.

shame it doesn’t show the view of the replay from the other end of the court tho. was a better angle imo.
