Bulls/Magic was over the moment Derrick Rose crashed to the floor and sprained his left wrist. On a night when the Bulls were already playing without Joakim Noah (foot) and Luol Deng (calf), and Orlando has been smashing all non-contender squads during their now seven-game win streak, Chicago’s only chance would be if D-Rose went off like Shep in Above the Rim — or if Vinny Del Negro hopped in a Hot Tub Time Machine and brought Mike and Scottie back with him … Late in the first quarter, Rose went to the rack and threw his body into Dwight Howard, hurting himself when he tried to break the fall. The play was exactly like the one from last month when Dwight and Rose collided and Rose wound up with a hip injury. Read More »

We spend a ton of time on Twitter every day. We have to, it’s the fastest way to get breaking NBA news and information and to connect with our readers, basketball fans and other basketball outlets.
Along the way though, we find ourselves laughing every single day at the tweets from NBA players, bloggers and fans. We decided that every afternoon we’re going to put the best tweets (both funny and informative) we see that day in one place for our dimemag.com readers who either aren’t on Twitter or don’t have the time to sit and follow tons of feeds all day long like we do.
Check out today’s best tweets below: Read More »

Outside of the first two days of the NCAA Tournament and the night-to-night drama of the NBA playoffs, probably the best basketball TV-watching experience is a heavy schedule on NBA League Pass full of intriguing head-to-head matchups.
Sometimes it’s tough to pre-plan what you’re gonna watch on a given night, but this past Tuesday was easy: When I saw “Utah at Chicago” on the schedule, I knew that meant Deron Williams and Derrick Rose were going to put on a show. Read More »

To make it to the NBA, you have to have talent. But to play a whole career in the NBA, you have to have a whole lot more than just that. As a 15-year NBA veteran, Jerry Stackhouse knows a thing or two about both. And on his SIRIUS Satellite Radio show, “Stack’s House,” the Bucks swingman decided to drop some veteran knowledge on Richard Jefferson‘s performance in San Antonio. Too bad the Bucks and Spurs already played their two games this year before his arrival in Milwaukee, because I would fly out for this match-up after Stackhouse puts Jefferson on blast. Read More »

Kevin Durant is a freak of nature. And everybody knows it. When I was down in Dallas for All-Star, I asked Steven A. Smith about KD and this is what he had to say: “Kevin Durant is the real deal. And I think that within the next two or three years, he will easily be one of the top three players in the NBA. He’s that good.” After his streak of 29 straight games with at least 25 points ended in late February, this got people thinking: Who leads the way on the NBA’s Anti-Kevin Durant Team? Check it out. After the Grizzlies destroyed the Celtics last night, it’s safe to say that no one thought it was going to be this way. Not even Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley. In a great interview with the Memphis Commercial Appeal, Heisley talks about the team’s draft history, offseason priorities and whether selling the franchise is still an option. But the most intriguing information that he divulges is surrounding soon-to-be free agent Rudy Gay. Read More »

I hope I’m not the first person to tell you that Richard Jefferson is having a horrible year. Averaging career lows in every major category since his rookie year, RJ hasn’t quite lived up to the expectations Spurs fans had when he arrived last summer. But it looks like someone injected him with HGH after this block last night! Check out the video after the jump. Read More »

For some reason, people never mention J.R. Smith when they mention the NBA’s top dunkers. After last night, all that should change. Coming down on the break, Smith didn’t just catch the alley-oop pass for the dunk, but also decided to get freaky with it for the 360 too. Check out the video after the jump. Read More »

Beast of the Night: Jason Kidd put up 20 points, 5 threes, 4 rebounds, 9 assists, 4 steals, 1 block and 2 turnovers against his former team from New Jersey. He shot 46 percent (6-13) from the floor and 75 percent (3-4) from the line. Despite his age, Kidd remains a top-three fantasy point guard. Read More »

Watching Kobe Bryant plunge another spear into the heart of another seemingly helpless opponent the other night, what struck me most wasn’t the degree of difficulty on Kobe’s Jordan-esque corner fadeaway, nor the sunken shoulders of the Toronto Raptors the moment the ball touched the net — even though they technically still had a shot to win the game.
What struck me most was Kobe’s reaction. Or better yet, his non-reaction. Read More »
