There were two primary story lines at work during last night’s Kings/Rockets game: First was the return of Carl Landry to Houston-slash-Kevin Martin facing his old squad. Second was Sacramento managing to win a road game against a decent opponent despite Tyreke Evans having the worst game of his NBA career, going 4-of-22 from the field for nine points.
Lost in the shuffle was that Luis Scola might have earned himself a new nickname. Read More »
This fall, we showed you the video of Baylor freshman Brittney Griner‘s first college dunk. But Griner, also known as the female Dwight Howard, didn’t stop there. Last night, the freshman was ejected from the game after she punched Texas Tech’s Jordan Barncastle in the face. Averaging 19.0 points, 8.7 rebounds and 6.1 blocks per game, it’s unclear how long she’ll be out.
Last night while watching Duke’s Jon Scheyer and Maryland’s Greivis Vasquez shoot it out in a great game on ESPN, we posed this question to our Twitter followers:
Between Scheyer + Vasquez, who do u think will be a better NBA player? Will either even have an NBA career?
Beast of the Night:LeBron James finished with 26 points, 7 rebounds, 14 dimes, 3 steals and 1 block in New Jersey. He shot 56 percent (10-18) from the field, 86 percent (6-7) from the line and had 3 turnovers. Though he’s averaging a career-high 8.6 assists per game this season, he’s also averaging 3.5 turnovers, his worst since his rookie season. Read More »
For the first time during this Create-a-Player series, I thought one man might combine everything I’d want from his respective position. I think you know who it is.
But let’s pretend for a moment that Michael Jordan is not the perfect two-guard. Actually, let’s just state it as a fact. Reggie Miller was a better three-point shooter and (brace yourself) just as clutch as MJ. Read More »
A whole lot of things didn’t make sense about last night’s Grizzlies/Hornets game. It didn’t make sense that Mike Conley (26 pts, 7 asts, 5 stls) was sticking jumpers like Mark Price. It didn’t make sense that Darren Collison (17 pts, 14 asts, 5 stls) and Marcus Thornton (24 pts) kept playing like the best backcourt in the League. It didn’t make sense that Emeka Okafor had one whole rebound. It didn’t make sense that Aaron Gray and Hamed Haddadi guarded each other for about 10 minutes and the sport of basketball wasn’t set back 30 years. But most improbable thing, according to one Hornets’ announcer, was the shot that eventually won Memphis the game … Read More »
A transition like this is commonplace when one legendary coach retires (Lute Olson) and a younger coach takes over. But for first-year AZ boss Sean Miller — who made the Big Dance field in four of his five years at Xavier, including an Elite Eight — it’s not something he’s used to. Read More »
In a recent poll, Sports Illustrated asked 173 NBA players who the dirtiest player in the NBA is. And according to the League, the winner (perhaps loser) is Reggie Evans. This past September, we put together our own sneaky-dirty list, and Evans clocked in at three. (Keep in mind, we note that if we were ranking guys in order according to strictly dirty-ness, Evans would be #1 and #2 at the same time.) Check out the rest of the list: Read More »
When news came out yesterday that LeBron had officially filed the proper paperwork to switch his jersey number from 23 to 6 for next season (in deference to Michael Jordan), comment boards lit up with posters saying that James purely doing it for the money by selling more jerseys. Which may be the case, despite the fact that Darren Rovell just pointed out that even if he sells millions more official NBA jerseys at retail, LeBron doesn’t see a penny more of his cut. Read More »
