After the possibility of the last two remaining No. 1 seeds meeting up in the Final Four, this got me thinking. Sure March is Mad, but shouldn’t the National Championship game be the best two teams left? So I started devising a way that regardless of what region in the bracket you get stuck, the grand pecking order would prevail. I introduce to you, re-seeding in the NCAA Tournament. Read More »

Beast of the Night: Dirk Nowitzki released the Kraken and finished with 34 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, 1 block, and 2 turnovers. He hit 4 threes, shot 41 percent (7-17) from the field and 94 percent (16-17) from the line. This was Diggler’s second career triple-double and it snapped a four-game streak of subpar showings. With the season already down to its last 10 games, NBA GMs have their minds set on the NBA Playoffs. But for those teams that will be counting ping pong balls instead of playoff victories, the upcoming NBA Draft has many intriguing prospects that need to be recognized. So with March Madness wrapping up, Dime contributor Lucas Shapiro continues profiling players and giving them a team that would best fit their talent. Last week was Wake Forest’s Al-Farouq Aminu, so now we’re on to Georgetown’s Greg Monroe. Read More »

If anyone is gonna bother making a season recap video for the Nets, 90 percent of it should focus on last night’s win over the Spurs. (The other 10 percent to the Lottery if they win the John Wall sweepstakes.) Not only did the Nets look like a real-life NBA basketball team for once, they avoided the stink of owning the League’s all-time worst win-loss record … Down five midway through the fourth quarter, Jersey went on a 13-2 run to take control, highlighted by an alley-oop from Devin Harris to Brook Lopez (after which we could’ve sworn Spurs announcer P.J. Carlesimo called Lopez “the rookie”). Read More »

We spend a ton of time on Twitter every day. We have to, it’s the fastest way to get breaking NBA news and information and to connect with our readers, basketball fans and other basketball outlets.
Along the way though, we find ourselves laughing every single day at the tweets from NBA players, bloggers and fans. We decided that every afternoon we’re going to put the best tweets (both funny and informative) we see that day in one place for our dimemag.com readers who either aren’t on Twitter or don’t have the time to sit and follow tons of feeds all day long like we do.
Check out the best tweets from the last few days below: Read More »

Last Friday, we told you about the new House of Hoops that was opening in Wayne, N.J. And for everyone that came through, they were not disappointed in the least. With Funkmaster Flex on the 1’s and 2’s, and New Jersey native John Celestand (a member of the Lakers’ 1999–2000 championship team) on the mic, the place was packed. Oh yeah, and then there was that whole cameo from Jay Williams. Check it out after the jump. Read More »

Boys will be boys, even when every shred of evidence clearly shows it’s kind of dumb to do anything in public you don’t want your wife/boss/admirers to find out about.
After the Tiger Woods situation blew up full-scale, along with relatively minor public gaffes involving NBA players Greg Oden and George Hill (and now Dorell Wright), you’d think athletes would get the point: In today’s culture of camera phones, Twitter, Facebook, texting, etc., YOU’RE GOING TO GET CAUGHT. As his alma mater was advancing to the Final Four, J.J. Redick was doin’ work in the NBA. Last year this would have seemed impossible, but against the Nuggets yesterday, Redick had his best all-around game as he dropped 23 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. Redick filled in for Vince Carter, who played only 95 seconds before leaving with a “sprained right big toe.” What else is new? On the bright side, Redick showed that he could be a key contributor for the Magic heading into the playoffs and that he may have a place in the Magic’s future plans. Read More »
