Dunk of the Year? Marcus Thornton smashes on Crash Wallace

Overall, Gerald Wallace had to consider Wednesday a good night. By beating the Hornets, his Bobcats clinched the franchise’s first-ever playoff appearance, and Wallace was able to rest his legs (and his sore shoulder) a little in the process. But then there was this…

wowzers. He’s gonna have to rest his soul after that one

  2. snowzerd says:

  3. karizmatic says:

    That was disturbing.

  4. Chaos says:

timing it eevrything. wallace was about to a second to late to react and thornton was like “f*ck it” imma go for it, cuz he eally didnt get super high, he just bodied wallace up. dwade on varejao was still better….

  5. sh!tfaced says:

Daaaang. He just made Wallace live up to the name Crash.

  6. Chaos says:

but….damn Crash , you supposed to be the top canidate for DPOY….not with that! he took hi soul like Shang Tsung

  7. pweezy says:

Crash was playing injured if this was beginning of the season he would have caught that…Thornton just started playing real time minutes 2 months ago…Nice Dunk but crash should have wore a suit last night lol

  8. liukz says:

he used his left arm to push wallace down

  9. Spliff 2 My Lou says:

Nice but not a dunk of the year candidate. How come this kid isn’t getting at least a mention for rookie of the year?

  10. jesus says:

oh come on, he pushed him down

  11. DH says:

Come on, Crash was obviously late. I’m sure you’ll be posting Jordan Crawford’s dunk on LeBron as another “dunk of the year candidate”.

  12. Chitown 23/33 says:

    @ Spliff

Because he isn’t even the best rookie on his team. But he’s a great pickup for them so late in the first round. The kid can really score, as soon as they get Mo Pete and the ghost of Peja off the salary cap maybe they can be contenders again.

  13. Flash says:

Clearly you forgot about Wade destroying Sideshow Bob earlier this season. This dunk isn’t even close.

  14. life-p says:

Won’t hate on the dunk. It was nice. Props due. Obviously, Charlotte is my team!

Congrats to Charlotte for making the playoffs and winning the game!! Ahhh, that’s better!

  15. David Brandon says:

blah blah blah, pushed his ass down…whatever. he got SMASHED on. there’s always gonna be contact on a dunk, regardless if you initiate it or receive it. he got banged on. dirty-like.

  16. life-p says:

    @6

Please understand that in order to win DPOY, you have to play defense and put yourself in situations to get dunked on! See Alonzo Mouring…

  17. ticktock6 says:

I had a great view of that from my seats. Buckets said after the game that was his 2nd best dunk of the year– he had one against the Grizzlies that was his #1. I don’t remember which one that was. I hate to disagree with my favorite rookie, but…

  18. Jules says:

great dunk, but even top 10 of the year quality

  19. davros says:

Way to defend Cap’n Jack – he did everything but give the Thornton a lift up. It’s not as if he was tight on him and Thornton sneaked by, he just let him go baseline without putting a finger on him

  20. QQ says:

    Nice.

But not even close to Corey Brewer on Fisher.

  21. Promoman says:

Marcus clearly pushed off. I think Gerald would’ve blocked that had he not got the pushoff.

  22. fallinup says:

Oh jeebus. What did ya’ll expect Thornton to do with Crash jumping to block… Hug him?

Crash got dunked on. Plain and simple. No ref in his right mind would call a foul on that. It’s called contact… it happens when your close to the rim like that.

  23. 2 Easy says:

Unless sumthin amazin happens dunk of the year has been decided. The order is Wade on Varejo #1, Melo on Milsap #2 and Brewer on Fish #3 simple good season everyone

  24. barons beard says:

Amar’e’s soul-destroyer on Tolliver was nastier, Tolliver sized him up but Amar’e just went higher and harder. Plus it basically swung the game in favour of the Suns for the W

That and D-Wade’s ownership of Varejo are the 1 & 2 of the year, couldn’t choose between them

  25. snowzerd says:

rose dunk on dragic should also be in the running for runnerup

  26. LakeShow84 says:

Sorry but Rose on whoever in Phoenix was the sickest dunk of the year..

    And i do mean sick..

Dwade destroying Varejao is 3rd with this @ 2nd..

Im surprised Wallace didnt have a ruptured spleen..

  27. Tino says:

    Damn…a smash on crash…

  28. Curren$y says:

    can we get a jpeg

  29. BFLA says:

David Stern is going to suspend Wallace for the rest of the season because he got done so badly.
