Yes this has been out for a week, and has nothing to do with basketball, but we can’t stop watching it. Watch as the Mets’ David Wright steps up his off-season training with Jersey Shore‘s finest, The Situation.
Well, can’t say I’m surprised by this one – it’s being reported that the Philadelphia 76ers will terminate Eddie Jordan today.
On paper, Jordan’s 27-55 record in his one and only season in Philly is reason enough to have him looking for work in the offseason. Beyond the grim numbers though, the actual product on the court – and the nonsense away from it – make letting Jordan go one of the easiest decisions in recent Sixer history. Read More »
Beast of the Night:Stephen Curry finished his stellar first season in the NBA with a bang, finishing with 42 points, 4 threes, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals, 1 block and 2 turnovers. He shot 52 percent (13-25) from the field and 100 percent (12-12) from the line. The kid deserves some major props for finishing the season as a top-12 fantasy stud and he’s sure to go very high in next season’s drafts. Read More »
File them in somewhere between Jerome James and LeBron James.
Back in ’05, Jerome James was in a contract year with the Sonics, and even as a full-time starter averaged only 4.9 points and 3.0 boards in the regular season. But in the playoffs, ‘Rome broke out: Starting with a 17-point, 15-board, 5-block line in Game 1 against Sacramento, he averaged 12.5 ppg and 6.8 rpg in the postseason. Solely on the strength of those three weeks, he signed a 5-year, $30 million deal with the Knicks. And you know the rest. Read More »
Seeing as the Spurs actually had something to play for in last night’s regular-season finale at Dallas, it would seem odd that they’d give Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili the evening off. Here’s how we see it: Even as they’ve struggled to find consistency, San Antonio still believes they have this playoff thing down to a science. They’re more concerned with staying healthy than they are worried about who they’ll play in the first round, especially when the options are perennial victims Phoenix and Dallas … Caron Butler scored 20 to lead the Mavs, while Jason Kidd sparked a 16-2 run to end the first quarter that was the decisive sequence. Ever since the true superstars (for the most part) stopped competing in the All-Star Weekend dunk contest, the crown of “NBA’s Best Dunker” has been decided on the court, in actual games, without the benefit of judges and a scoring system. And with that, we really began to see the difference between those who excel in dunking on people, and those who can rouse (or hush) the crowd when they’re all alone.
Pity the scouts who have to help prepare their teams for an upcoming playoff opponent. With the final regular season games being played tonight, the only fixed seeds belong to Cleveland (#1), Orlando (#2), Atlanta (#3), Boston (#4) and Charlotte (#7) in the Eastern Conference, and Los Angeles (#1) and Oklahoma City (#8) in the Western Conference. For the amount of stuff that we all come across every day, it really takes something special for it to stand out from the rest. And that’s why you have to stop what you’re doing and watch this. As the guys at Nothing Easy say, “I’m not sure if Bosh would be flattered by this song or if it could actually help persuade him to re-sign with the Raptors, but it’s certainly a solid effort.” Agreed. You already know how I feel, but even this would make me think twice.
As the NBA regular season comes to a close tonight, 28 teams will be in action. And with the playoffs beginning on Saturday, there is a lot to process. Some players will be packing up their lockers, as free agents leave the arena talking to their agent on their BlackBerry. Others will be preparing to go to battle as their team gets set for the postseason. So with tall that in mind, here are five things to watch for tonight. Read More »
