The next, best stop for J.J. Redick: Charlotte

J.J. Redick

There wasn’t a whole lot normal about Orlando’s first-round win over the Bobcats. Dwight Howard was stuck in foul trouble and put up numbers maybe Anderson Varejao would’ve bragged about; Vince Carter shot 1-for-17 from three range and 35 percent overall; and yet the Magic won the series easily, the only sweep of the NBA playoffs so far.

J.J. Redick wasn’t his usual self, either. Or maybe he was. Read More »

Clip Of The Day: The Bucks’ Bango With An Insane Playoff Stunt

Last night, Bango, the Bucks’ mascot, pulled off an amazing stunt at the Bradley Center. Climbing to the top of a 16-foot ladder, Bango flipped backwards, dunked the basketball and landed safely. This goes without saying, but don’t even think about trying this at home.

Tyreke Evans & Brandon Jennings Should Be Named Co-NBA Rookie Of The Year

Tyreke Evans

Just because our site was down, doesn’t mean that we were out of the basketball world. This morning, Kings blog Sactown Royalty announced that Tyreke Evans will be named the NBA’s 2009-10 Rookie of the Year, with the announcement expected Thursday or Friday. But while we wait for the official declaration to come from the League, we thought this was as good a time as any to bring up the fact that we still feel Brandon Jennings is this year’s ROY, or should at least share the award with Evans. Jamal Crawford wins NBA Sixth Man of the Year

Jamal Crawford

Allow me to brag about my hometown for a minute. With Jamal Crawford being named the NBA Sixth Man of the Year earlier today, that gives Seattle a pair of award-winners in 2010, after Aaron Brooks copped Most Improved Player last week.

Like every other award that’s been announced so far, this one was a landslide victory. Crawford, a.k.a. “The Difference” according to the rest of the Hawks, got 110 out of 122 first-place votes, smashing second-place finisher Jason Terry (also from Seattle). Read More »

Talk Ain’t Cheap in the NBA

With the NBA playoffs heating up, emotions are at an all-time high right now. Some players and coaches have been coming at game officials sideways, and David Stern is not having that. Stern is tired of the outlandish remarks criticizing NBA officials, and he’s prepared to give out a couple suspensions and fines if need be. In the past few weeks, it seems like the League has been handing out fines as often as LeBron gets asked about his plans this summer. Read More »

Dime NBA Draft Profile: Larry Sanders

With the regular season over, 16 NBA GMs have their minds set on the NBA Playoffs. But for those teams that will be counting ping pong balls instead of playoff victories, the upcoming NBA Draft has many intriguing prospects that need to be recognized. So with March Madness over, Dime contributor Lucas Shapiro continues profiling players and giving them a team that would best fit their talent. Last week was Kansas’ Cole Aldrich, so now we’re on to Virginia Commonwealth’s Larry Sanders. Read More »

Orlando brings the brooms to Charlotte

Dwight Howard

One down, one more on the ropes. The first playoff team of 2010 was sent to the ol’ fishing hole last night, with the Bobcats getting swept by the Magic. Meanwhile, the Blazers are on the verge of going home after getting smashed in Phoenix again … This might come as a shock, but Dwight Howard (6 pts, 13 rebs) was limited by foul trouble. Read More »

Don’t Call It A Comeback

After two days, we’re finally back! Thanks to all the people that e-mailed and called in to the office, checking to make sure we were alright since www.dimemag.com was down. A big thanks goes out to Dime’s one and only Pat Cassidy, who found the problem and fixed the site. In addition to the best jump shot this side of the Mississippi, we also like to joke that he’s our Chief Digital Officer. So in honor of the site’s reemergence, here are some highlights of Magic Johnson‘s first game back with the Lakers during the 1995-96 season. Enjoy!

D-Wade torches Boston for 46; George Hill’s breakout party

Dwyane Wade

If this really was Dwyane Wade’s last home game in Miami, it was like a mind-blowing goodbye bang for Heat fans: You wouldn’t have it any other way, but it’s gonna make it even harder to get over the eventual breakup. Facing elimination, Wade started off hot like he did in Game 3, but he finished even hotter – outscoring the Celtics 19-15 by himself in the fourth quarter as the Heat survived for at least one more game with the series headed back up North … Wade (46 pts, 16-24 FG) had his usual array of circus layups and highlight dunks – the reverse jackknife was Harold Miner-esque, and the one-hander on KG was just nasty – but he was really killing ’em with his jumper.
