We Reminisce: Mitch Richmond

Just because. A couple years ago I broke down Mitch Richmond‘s Hall of Fame chances and deemed him out, but that doesn’t mean The Rock wasn’t one of the nastiest scorers of his era. Definitely one of the most underrated players. Of today’s NBA guards, who do you think has a game most similar to Richmond?

mitch was awesome- ive said it before on dime, but he was absolutely dominant in nba live 95 and 96

his answers at the end of the interview were great-

“is there anything you can do that mike cant?”
“yeah, i can go to the movies w/o anyone recognizing me.”

    haha thats awesome

Great call on Eric Gordon. Their games could be identical.

  5. stillanetsfan says:

monta ellis… OJ Mayo… Eric Gordon

I know Joe Johnson is more athletic with a better handle, but he remind me of JJ.

  7. Chaos says:

nah, i can see, eric gordon and OJ ca can be a better version f him, ben gordon is has similar game but is to streaky, he doesnt give you conistent buckets but when he get hot its gonna be raining treys….

I’m not sure that there’s anybody in the NBA today that’s close to having Mitch’s game. He was an elite scorer and defender. Everytime I read about underrated NBAers back in the day, Mitch’s name came up and his D was as talked about as his offense.

eirc gordon, period… the love for shooting 3′s, the ability to take it strong to the hoop, the strength, the decent handle…

  10. pipdaddyy says:

OJ Mayo is closest. Mitch could score, but to me he was not so valueable, he barely ever seemed to give up the ball, and had way too few assists for a guard in high-octane offenses.

  11. Mitch the B*tch Richmond says:

    Marcus Thornton

  12. Mitch the B*tch Richmond says:

    or a big Mo Williams

  13. Atom says:

OJ is a good call, but thinkin a little outside the box I’m goin with Paul Pierce

  14. karizmatic says:

For some reason Ben Gordon comes to mind.

  15. Papa Smurf says:

I’m leaning toward Atom’s Paul Pierce call. I liked the Rock much better than Pierce though.

  16. BC says:

Joe Johnson, healthy/sane Gilbert Arenas, young Ray Allen, or maybe even Brandon Roy.

  17. Derik says:

    I would say Brandon Roy

  18. Chicagorilla says:

Wow, I was just about to post how similar Eric Gordan game is to Mitch’s, but someone already did.
