What do rich people do in a halfway house? I’ve known guys who have had to stay at a halfway house in between jail and freedom, and they had to work rough 9-to-5′s and be home by curfew. When you’ve got $80 million-plus of NBA money in your name, what’s your daily routine while everyone else is doing labor work?
For Gilbert Arenas and the Washington Wizards, hopefully his 30-day “vacation” was spent working out and thinking about his priorities. Read More »
If you’ve managed to miss the relentless flood of commercials — they were even on the ring posts during the Floyd Mayweather vs. Shane Mosley fight — you might not know that Iron Man 2 hits movie theaters nationwide today. (Seriously, the ads are ridiculous; we saw some Tony Starks-shaped donuts at a coffee shop this morning.)
When the first Iron Man came out a couple years ago, the Dime office was empty by mid-afternoon as everybody went to watch it. This might be another short Friday, too. But before everybody breaks out, here is our NBA All-Iron Man squad: Read More »
We know you were missing Eric Newman’s Throwback Thursdays column yesterday, so today we’re bringing you something special. If you’re a Lakers fan, then you both remember and love what “Big Game” James Worthy brought to the team in the late 80’s and early 90’s, and of course you remember the 36-16-10 he dropped on the Celtics in Game 7 of the 1988 NBA Finals to secure the Finals MVP award. In preparation for Games 3 and 4 of Lakers/Jazz, we’ve teamed up with our friends over at LakersNation.com to give away an Authentic James Worthy Mitchell & Ness Jersey in a sweepstakes. LakersNation does not miss anything when it comes to the Lakers, so if you’re a Lakers fan you have to check it out. Read More »

After the Nuggets lost to the Jazz in the first round of the playoffs, there were questions surrounding the future of everyone in Denver. Is it time to blow it up? Can this team ever win? These questions and more were raised. And one interesting idea that surfaced earlier this week was that it’s time for the Nuggets to trade Nene. But for who? It’s known that you don’t trade big for small, and who else is out there that could replace a 6-11, 250-pound bruiser? But I found the perfect trading partner: the Detroit Pistons. It’s time to see what that squad would have looked like with Carmelo Anthony. Read More »
If you didn’t read Howard Beck’s article in the New York Times yesterday on Bill Walton, then you missed out. After Walton left the airwaves two years ago owing to debilitating back pain, the League’s been without his colorful opinions for too long. Thankfully for us, he’s back, and better than ever. Of everything he said about the NBA, it’s his thoughts on Pau Gasol and Rajon Rondo that stuck out. Read More »
Recapping the Magic’s 43-point Game 1 flogging of the Hawks, we joked that Vince Carter complemented Dwight Howard‘s individual dunk contest with his own “barely above-the-rim” antics. Vince got plenty high enough in last night’s Game 2, and in addition to some vintage highlight-reel dunks, had his best game of the playoffs so far. He put up 24 points and 7 boards, scoring 11 in the fourth as the Magic fought off an Atlanta squad that actually showed up this time but still got beat convincingly … Read More »
