NBA Rumor: Chris Bosh has a 5-team wish list

Chris Bosh, Dime #33

If you’re in the camp that believes NBA teams can’t win championships without a superstar big man, then you could argue Chris Bosh is actually the most important free agent on the 2010 market, even over LeBron James. Of course LeBron will earn tons of money and exposure for whichever team he picks, but the team that lands Bosh could be the team to add the biggest piece to its championship puzzle.

Just about everybody outside of Toronto assumes Bosh is leaving the Raptors. But according to an ESPN report, he’s put together a list of his preferred teams, and T-Dot is still in the mix: Read More »

3 Things the Cleveland Cavaliers Have To Do This Summer

LeBron James

I can’t decide if the LeBron free agency madness would be more or less interesting had the Cavs won — or at least competed for — an NBA championship. All year long, popular opinion was that if Cleveland had won a ‘chip, LeBron definitely wouldn’t leave when he could add a couple more rings to his collection. Then again, winning a ‘chip could have been the perfect way for LeBron to say, “I did what I came here to do, now I want to tackle new challenges” and hop a plane to Miami, Chicago or New York. Vince Carter has to play the game of his life in Game 3

Vince Carter

Call me an apologist, an optimist, a dick-rider, whatever. But I have to disagree with Dime’s Daniel Marks: I think Vince Carter can shake his reputation as a crunch-time choker and overall soft player.

All he has to do is play the game of his life tomorrow.

With the Orlando Magic facing a death-certificate deficit should they lose Game 3 in Boston (8:30 p.m. EST, ESPN), this is a must-win for the team, and for Vince, a must-dominate. Read More »

We examine whether coaches who played in the NBA have an advantage over those who didn’t. Read More »

Whether or not the lessons are getting through is one thing — but there was a reason the Magic employed Patrick Ewing to teach Dwight Howard how to be an all-time great.

There are a lot of inspirational movies you could suggest for Dwight going into tomorrow’s crucial Game 3 in Boston, from Braveheart to 300 to any of the Rocky flicks, but here’s a good one: Ewing’s career-high scoring game, when he dropped 51 on the Celtics in March 1990. Hitting 20-of-29 from the field and 11-of-13 at the line, Ewing also pulled down 18 rebounds, but the Knicks lost anyway. So maybe this isn’t the right clip for Dwight …
