Vince Carter Chokes At The Line

Here’s an e-mail thread from last night’s game:
Person A: “I would like to point out that Vince Carter can’t get back in the game because of how well J.J. Redick is playing.”
Person B: “You mean the guy that just hit the go-ahead bucket late in the fourth quarter. Redick doesn’t see the ball that possession.”
Person C: “Redick doesn’t miss those free throws.”
Person B: “No comment.”

What happened? Can the Magic rebounds from 0-2?

way to cement you status as a career soft player Wince!

  2. SparkyJay23 says:

    Wince Carter indeed

Like i said back when they were sweeping and folks were saying Wince was clutch- Ask them folks in Toronto & NJ how clutch Wince is.

Never was – Never will be.

fuck is yall talkin bout?? even if vince makes those 2 free throws, they’re still down by one. they wouldve had to foul, and on that next posession SOMEONE wouldve had to hit the game winner. Dwight gonna do that?? No. Rashard? Please. Jameer? Maybe but tough for a guy that small to get off a clutch shot when he’s guarded tightly by good defenders. If not for vince orlando wouldve gotten beat alot worse.

What orlando needs is for the $118 million dollar man (Lewis) to play some aggressive playoff basketball and stop waiting for wide open 3′s cuz its not happenin against Boston. Get to the lane, draw a foul for once

  4. SparkyJay23 says:

The Magic gonna split the next 2 but lose in 6.

Rashard has to be found, and JJ gets more minutes for this to happen

  5. control says:

I think Wince secured that soft title after damn near needing a gurney to get off the floor after slipping on the tiniest wet spot on the floor that has ever been on a floor. His face was permawhine after that moment.

  6. Kermit The Washington says:

First Nick Anderson, then Courtney Lee, now Vince Carter.

  7. Clemo says:

if he made them, they wouldn’t have to foul!

and redick also messed up with his timeout 4 seconds too late and the missed pass to lewis (even that he sucked the whole series, that was a wide-open three at the end)…

btw there won’t be any close series in this playoffs since the 1st round…

  8. fallinup says:

    Those freebies were crucial.

  9. karizmatic says:

That’s unfair Redick if put in that situation may very well have missed those freethrows, he’s a great freethrow shooter but he’s not NBA battle tested
    he may have missed those

post #3 had it right. even if vince hits those magic are still down 1. The magic didn’t foul after he missed those on the next possession they played boston straight up and kg missed a jumper that’s when reddick got the rebound and messed up. So basically all that missing those free throws meant is that instead of having 3.5 seconds from backcourt to hit a 3 to tie they could have hit a two or 3 to win if carter makes the free throws.

  11. davros says:

I thought the comments by Van Gundy about Reddick were a real stab in the back. Way to throw your players under the bus Van Gundy. Reddick got blamed for losing the whole game on the basis of the last 10 seconds. If the Magic flame out fo the playoffs then sack Van Gundy, he is wasting the talent he has

  12. davros says:

Would the Lil General be a good fit in Orlando?

  13. My Favorite Superhero says:

The Magic need someone to get angry out there…

The whole team plays with determination, but not ferocity, Gortat is the closest thing to an angry player they have…

Vince is missing that part of the brain that says, “I believe I can take this game over”…

    Rashard Lewis…

  14. fallinup says:

    @ 10

Magic didn’t have to foul. Vince missed them with 31.9 seconds left on the clock. Being down 1 and only having to make a stop is a lot different than being down 3 and having to make a stop.

KG missed… Reddick happens… you have 3 seconds to make a 3… instead of 3 seconds to make a 2. A 2 is a little more easier to set up with Howard on the court.

The missed free throws gave Boston the option to foul on Garnett’s miss. Which would have forced Orlando to shoot 2 freebies. Instead of the 3 they needed. Yeah, yatta yatta… Riddick should be blamed.. but Doc even admitted after the game that they all were screaming to foul if Garnett’s miss ended up in Orlando’s hands… Reddick pushed it because he thought he’d be fouled. It’s a mute point now… Vince shoulda made them freebies so Boston didn’t have the option to foul.

  15. fallinup says:

Don’t get me wrong though… you’re down by one possession and you get a crucial rebound… call time out if you have it, dammit. That’s a given.

  16. sp says:

@14 you’re right I forgot about Boston being able to foul since it was a 3pt lead. I didn’t mean to say it was all reddicks fault either. I was just getting pissed at people thinking vince lost them the game by not hitting those free throws. Don’t get me wrong he should have hit them but it was a combination of bad plays and some tough calls that cost them.

DUDE if he woulda made those freethrows instead of being a bum Orlando woulda only been down by 1 freakin point. And with 30 seconds left that’s alotta time for somebody to make any kind of shot. Instead Vince misses those easy ass free throws and forces somebody on the Magic to have to shoot a 3 pointer. Gimme a break man and get off Vince’s dick. He’s getting paid millions and can’t come through when it matters…damn magic gonna lose another championship series because of free throws, just pathetic
