NBA Trade Rumor: Al Jefferson To Detroit, Indiana or Memphis

Al Jefferson (photo. Bethany Gilbert)
We already know that Minnesota is looking to make moves, but now they’ve made it clear: Al Jefferson is available for the best offer on the table. According to ESPN.com’s Chad Ford, the Wolves have offered him to Detroit for Tayshaun Prince, the Pacers for Troy Murphy and the Grizzlies for Zach Randolph. That can’t be too reassuring for a guy who was just one year ago concerned the franchise player.
Although the Jefferson-for-Randolph talks appear to be dead for now, it seems more and more likely that Jefferson is on his way out. So if you’re Minnesota, what type of player are you looking to draft? All of these trades are contingent upon draft picks changing hands as well, so whichever team is willing to part with one (or multiple) first round picks, could get a 20 and 10 guy.
What do you think? Would you make any of these trades?

Heckler says:
didnt they try to deal him to Indy last year for granger? and larry bird shot that deal down? and now they wanna still move him to (possibly) Indy for troy murphy?
minny needs to keep Al and move kevin love.
kevin love is a worse player, but probably has more trade value since he is liked more around the league by GMs.

The whole Big Al deal makes no sense. Cutting his minutes and giving them to Darko at the end of the season, and trying to deal him out for whatever they can get…
The Cavs need to offer up Jamison or Mo

seriously.. why get rid of al jefferson? hes the best player on the team. if theyre unhappy with his production, they need to get a center. al’s natural position is the 4. k-love needs to be a back up or on a different team. none of those rumors make sense.
if they get rid of jefferson.. im sure thats just gonna push ricky rubio away even further.

Suns could offer J-Rich and Earl Clark, since Amare is gone too

BAD move for the Griz. Although, I really like Troy Murphy and think he is a solid producer for the Pacers, this may be a deal they need to make if it’s a straight up trade. Maybe toss in TJ Ford for free. Would be nice if they wanted Dunleavy instead of Murphy, though.

Mr. TKO says:
The way I hear it, Al Jefferson is a great player but either he’s an undersized Center or he’s pretty good PF.
The things I hear about Kevein Love is that he’s a severly underrated PF who had one of the highest rebounding averages despite playing less than 30 minutes, he’s supposed to be an incredible passer (which is great for the Triangle Offense I would imagine) and most importantly of all, he’s still on his rookie contract.
Which means that you can either trade the blue collar undersized C/PF who makes 41 million over the next 3 years or you can trade the Incredible rebounding and passing PF (I think is a decent offensive player but I dont’ remember) who makes 18 million over the next 3 years (aka what Al makes in a little over a year)
Basically you can spin Al jefferson into all types trade options while K Love can only be traded for another rookie contract (unless Minny has tons of cap space that they’re not worried about wasting.)

I think you mean “considered” the franchise player.

Hibbert and Jefferson would be a very SLOW frontcourt… though effective in half-court sets.

Chicagorilla says:
Trade him to Chicago for Joakim Noah! I beg you Chicago front office, get in on this ASAP! 20-10 guys dont come around often. especially when the Bulls NEED low post scoring. Maybe we can trade Loul Deng str8 up for Al Jeff

Brazzle says:
Detroit needs to make that trade immediately

If a GM is offered AL Jeff for Fat Zach “Tony Montana” Randolph, and doesn’t take it…they should be straight out fired and prevented from working in the NBA in anyway, shape or form again.
I’d take an injured Al over a healthy Zach. Who knows if Zach can even be traded right now…apparently he might be catching a few cases…

@11, you’d seriously give up Noah for Jefferson? you do know that he had the dreaded microfracture surgery and has questionable work ethic. i just can’t give the heart and soul of the bulls for that.

The reported Detroit offer was Jefferson and picks #16 and #23 for Tayshaun Prince, Chris Wilcox, and the #7. If that was the offer on the table, I don’t understand how Joe Dumars can refuse that. It’s one step in the right direction as far as getting younger and devevloping a legtimate front court. At 16, they could grab Hassan Whiteside and at #23 they could add a Gani Lawal or Kevin Seraphin.
Please please please dooooo it, Joe!

Only way Detroit should take Al is with the #4.
We will give Minn our #7+Tayshuan+Wilcox.
Then put Austin Daye, Maxiel, Charlie V, and Kwame Brown up for a nice PF who can avg 18&9 at least. (Hopefully unloading Charlie V & Kwame Brown)
wow….
Stuckey/Bynum
Rip/BGordon/ADaye
Jerebko/DSummers
?/Maxiel
Al/Cousins/Big Ben
45+ win season.

Chitown 23/33 says:
Bulls offered Deng for Jefferson at the trade deadline and were shot down by David Kahn. Now it makes no sense to move him because you don’t free up cap space for Deng and you lose him as sign and trade bait for free agency.
June 24th, 2010 at 2:54 pm
Mark says:
The Bulls need to do something to get Deng off the books if they can not dump him to create space for 2 Max then this is the next best thing. Al has a reasonable contract if he can produce 20/10. It gives Lebron 2 legit bigs to play alongside in the front court. With Rose distributing and running the show that is a formidable team.

Memphis should have taken Big Al for Z-Bo. Would have been a great move, that’s like turning Quentin for Big Al. It would also look bad for the Wolves, its like turning KG in to Z-Bo…

ReddiRed says:
let’s see if Joe D works with the Nets for their #3.
I hear the Nets are looking to move down.
Then maybe Detroit can work something special with Minn player for player —– Al Jefferson for Rip? contract are not that far off…..
