Shaquille O’Neal Is “The Big Karate Kid”

Normally Shaquille O’Neal is a monster on Twitter, but since his last tweet on June 18th (which cryptically stated “What had happened was!!”), there have been no new updates. Maybe it’s because the following film is what he linked to.

Run This Town: The L.A. Lakers championship parade

photo. Los Angeles Times

It wasn’t the same spectacle that shut down half the city of Los Angeles last year, but the Lakers’ 2010 championship parade was still something you didn’t want to miss. Kobe, Pau, Ron-Ron and the rest of the squad were perched atop an 18-wheeler as it rolled through the two-mile route, going from Staples Center to the USC campus. Over the last couple years we’ve seen the Yankees and New York Giants championship parades go right by the Dime office, and the atmosphere is tough to describe if you’re not there. It’s insanity. And you know Lakers fans are maybe crazier than NY fans … Read More »

Los Angeles Lakers

Words. Camron Ghorbi & Rey Jefferson

Ever since 1969, the League has awarded the Most Valuable Player of the NBA Finals with a trophy named after Bill Russell. And while Paul Pierce stormed through the playoffs to win the award in 2008, it was Kobe Bryant who captured his second straight Finals MVP in 2010. Although the NBA’s playoff award system begins and ends with the Finals MVP, here’s a full rundown of those deserving of some love after some impressive Finals performances: Read More »

The NBA’s All-Coulda Been Team

Rasheed Wallace

With talk out of Boston getting louder that Rasheed Wallace will retire this summer, we may be witnessing the end of one of the NBA’s all-time greatest coulda-been-greater careers.

For 15 years, we read that same book on ‘Sheed: He could have been … fill in the blank … if he’d wanted to be. Hall of Famer. Best power forward in the League. Franchise superstar. The Black Dirk Nowitzki. The hip-hop generation’s Willis Reed. As nasty as he wanted to be. Read More »

Clip Of The Day: Ron Artest “Champions”

We already heard Ron Artest shout out his song in the infamous post-game interview, and then again today during the Lakers’ parade. So before it hits iTunes, check out the music video of “Champions.” And then say, “Queensbridge.”

Drake Brings Kobe Bryant On Stage In L.A.

While performing at the Power106 Powerhouse concert in Anaheim, Drake thought it would be fitting to bring out a champion. While Kobe didn’t spend nearly as long on stage as LeBron did in Cleveland, it’s nice to see that he came out. I guess Drake will be bringing out your favorite local hoop star to a concert near you.
