Clip Of The Day: Game Day Trick Shot Compilation

Amidst all the hoopla surrounding the NBA Finals, we had a nice visit to the Dime office this week from Connor Nolte. You might remember that we featured Connor’s blog, Passer’s Remorse, in Dime #56, and that we did a big two-page interview with him titled “How To Run A Basketball Blog From The Bench” in Dime #57, but if not, you should check them out. Regardless, while redshirting at the University of Georgia this past season, Connor’s trick shots became an international sensation. In his honor, check out a compilation of all his game day trick shots, including an awesome cameo from Charles Barkley. Enjoy!

Celtics: The Blueprint To Save Them From Complete Disaster

Rajon Rondo

As a Celtics fan, I got a lot of texts, BBMs and e-mails last night after the game. Some of them were condolence calls, and others were boastful, champagne-ridden messages from Laker fans. But you know what? I was content. Back when I wrote that the Celtics could still win the NBA Championship on March 8th, people thought I was crazy. And in retrospect, I knew that i was going out on a limb. But after this amazing series, I’m more proud of Boston’s resilience than upset with their loss.

Now that the offseason has officially started, it’s time to look forward to the 2010-11 Boston Celtics. From possible major shakeups to the NBA Draft and free agency, here’s everything you need to know. Read More »

5 NBA Teams That Could Use Allen Iverson

Allen Iverson

We have our Answer. After a few months of wondering whether Allen Iverson would really leave the game the way he did, stumbling to a 28-game season where he averaged just 13.8 points, it sounds like the former Sixer will attempt to play in the NBA next season. The Associated Press reported that the 2001 NBA MVP is in good spirits and wants to return for one more run: Read More »

Why is the U.S. mediocre in soccer? For the same reason we dominate basketball

Carmelo Anthony

Along with ping-pong to the Chinese (38 of the last 40 world champions), ski-jumping to the Europeans, and distance running to the East Africans, soccer is another sport where Team USA might just have to concede the crown.

Prior to the 2010 World Cup, the U.S. was ranked 14th globally by FIFA, and really, the distance between us and heavyweights like Brazil, Italy and Argentina isn’t that close. Going into this morning’s group-stage match against Slovenia, the U.S. was especially a long shot to win this tournament with starting goalie Tim Howard nursing bruised and maybe broken ribs from the opening match against England. Indiana Pacers: The No. 10 Pick Is Yours For The Taking

Pacers

While everyone has been focused on the NBA Finals for the past few weeks, the 28 teams that have been watching from home had to be jealous. But even with the NBA Draft less than a week away, there has been surprisingly little chatter from many of the teams. That is, from every franchise except the Indiana Pacers. In one week’s time, the Pacers have basically put every player on the trading block, and made it known that they’re willing to deal. Read More »

San Antonio Spurs Importing The Next David Robinson

Manu Ginobili’s bald spot might signal it’s over for the old guys. But, the San Antonio Spurs are trying to gear up again for one final push with their current roster. Every year, the “Spurs aren’t dead” headlines appear. Last summer, the signings of Richard Jefferson and Antonio McDyess were supposed to put them over the hump. They didn’t.

Now, the San Antonio News-Express is reporting that Spurs’ 2007 first-round pick, Tiago Splitter really wants to and is planning on coming to the States for next season: Read More »

Kobe Bryant: Snake Eyes

Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant ruled the basketball kingdom in 2009: NBA championship, Finals MVP, official status as one of the greatest players of all-time. With his game and his fame having never been at higher levels going into the 2010 season, what else did Kobe have to prove? In my interview from Dime #55 (Feb. 2010), the Black Mamba talked about legacies and legends, months before he would add a fifth ‘chip and another Finals MVP in last night’s Game 7 victory: Read More »

Shout Outs To The Shrink, An Angry Spaniard & Other Reasons The Lakers Won

Los Angeles Lakers

Pathetic. That’s how I would’ve put it. That was just a pathetic offensive performance. It’s really the only way to describe a game when a team shoots 32 percent from the field and their two best players go 6-26 in the first half of the biggest game of their lives. When Ron Artest is your best option for putting the ball in the hoop, you’ve got problems. Read More »

Slaughter On The Boards, The Absence Of Jesus & Other Reasons Why The Celtics Lost

We gave you the instant analysis right after the game, and followed that up with a more in-depth look in Smack, but for all the Boston Celtics fans out there, we figured we’d break it down just for you. Here is the good and bad of Game 7: Read More »
