We’re getting toward that time of the NBA offseason (at least for the 28 teams not playing) where every potential hint is blown out of proportion and it’s hard to decipher rumors from legit reports. For example, Wednesday’s big story was that Tom Izzo had accepted the Cavs’ head coaching job. That stemmed from a meeting Izzo had with his Michigan State players where he supposedly told them he was leaving, but then other sources claimed Izzo only told the players he’d talked to the Cavs but hadn’t yet made a decision … If Izzo does take the job, does he know something we don’t about LeBron‘s summer plans? This past weekend, the final regular session of Nike’s Elite Youth Basketball League commenced in Los Angeles. With over 40 teams from across the country converging in L.A., the event was definitely loaded with top-tier talent and competition.
Among the competitors in attendance was a pair of Kentucky commits and consensus top-3 overall prospects: Read More »

If the New Jersey Nets don’t have a reality TV show next season, somebody either dropped the ball or was just afraid to pull the trigger.
The story lines are already writing themselves: You’ve got a team coming off a comically bad season, a quirky young star in Brook Lopez, and made-for-TV personalities in Terrence Williams and Chris Douglas-Roberts. Read More »

10-for-29. Those are not exactly Hall of Fame shooting numbers right there. In Game 3, Kobe Bryant was aggressive … aggressively almost shooting the Lakers right out of the lead. With perhaps the series hanging in the balance, Bryant was attacking and putting the Boston defense on its heels for much of the first half in L.A.’s 91-84 win. Yet at times, his poor shot selection and his teammate’s over-reliance on his theatrics threatened to be the Celtics’ best defense. Read More »

Apparently Kevin Garnett was right: Anything is possibuuuuuuuullllll. Three days ago, I was absolutely certain about at least two things: Donald Sterling would never give up his position as majority owner of the L.A. Clippers, and Tom Izzo would never leave Michigan State University.
But the allure of LeBron James can move mountains in the NBA. Reports surfaced yesterday of billionaire David Geffen promising he can “deliver” LeBron if he acquires 51% ownership of the Clippers, and today, it’s been reported Izzo will be the next coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
My first thought is that Izzo has to know something we don’t in regards to LeBron’s free agency plans. Read More »

If Paul Pierce considers the NBA Finals his stage to prove he’s the best player in basketball, he only has between two and four more chances to re-establish the position he earned in ’08, when the Finals MVP declared himself the League’s top dog.
Three games into the 2010 Finals, Pierce is struggling. In Game 1 he put up a team-high 24 points, but since then has averaged 12.5 points on 30 percent (7-for-23) shooting from the field. In last night’s Game 3, while Ray Allen was playing like Ray Romano, Pierce needed to step up and deliver in crunch time. Read More »

Honestly, who was expecting that type of performance from Derek Fisher last night? Maybe a game-changing defensive play, or a big three down the stretch, or even a last-second shot, but eleven points in the fourth quarter and carrying the offense while Kobe struggled?
Well, not only are Laker fans now hoping for another clutch performance by D-Fish in the very near future, but actually all NBA fans (yes, even Celtic fans) are optimistic that Fisher can come up big down the stretch. Why, you ask? Read More »

If you’re from Boston, you already know about Bodega. Beantown’s hottest sneaker shop came through this past week with free tees and kicks for Celtics fans. On Sunday, they gave away 50 pairs of Converse Chuck Taylor Highs with “The Dynasty Continues” on the side, and yesterday gave out 100 free “One More To Go” t-shirts. Check ‘em both out in detail after the jump. Read More »

Over the weekend, rumors surfaced suggesting Trail Blazers GM Kevin Pritchard‘s days with the team are numbered. This would have seemed crazy not too long ago, when Pritchard was treated like a rock star in Portland and credited with building one of the League’s hottest up-and-coming young contenders. So what’s the problem now? Two Dime writers debate just how important (or expendable) Pritchard is to the Blazers: Read More »

Last week I gave you the Top 5 must-have Lakers items currently selling on eBay. So it’s only naturally I’d have to find the equally ridiculous Top 5 must-have Celtics items that you may or may not have any use for. At all.
1. Antoine Walker Radical Rides Hot Wheels
If this isn’t a must-have product, I don’t know what is. I’m still trying to figure out what’s in the back of ‘Toine’s Radical Ride. Read More »
