A couple days before the NBA Draft, Blake Griffin was in New York City doing promo work for Subway. Following his first open-access workout since last year’s knee injury, Blake got up with Dime to talk about rehab, sandwiches, and what pieces the Clippers are missing. Thanks to Nick Cicero for the beat.
At a solid 6-8, 230 pounds, with quick feet developed while playing soccer in his native Cameroon, Luc Mbah a Moute was built to be an elite NBA defender. In his second year with the Milwaukee Bucks, the 23-year-old UCLA alum spent time in front of everybody from D-Wade to Dirk to Derrick Rose, and wrapped up his season with a playoff appearance and a couple of All-Defensive Team votes. Around the time it became clear Chris Bosh was not going to spend his entire career in Toronto, two seemingly natural destinations for CB4 were Dallas and Houston. Bosh would be looking for a franchise with more exposure, he’s a Texas native, and both of those teams could use a big man — especially Houston, since Yao Ming‘s legs are as sturdy as a LEGO skyscraper. But after the Rockets took on Kevin Martin and Jared Jeffries‘ salaries in the T-Mac trade (about $18 million combined for next season), it seemed Houston was out of the race for any big-time free agents. Not so fast, though. Read More »
During his recent trip to London with the Jordan Brand, two-time Dime cover guy Chris Paul agreed to check in with a diary of his summer travels. Here’s the first edition:
It’s my first time in London and I already know I want to come back. It’s a beautiful city rich with history.
But first and foremost, I got a chance to hoop with some young kids at Lilian Baylis in Lambeth, London. Michael Jordan visited Lilian Baylis’ old school (now a community sport center) back in 2006 and dedicated a basketball court back then. Read More »
Last week, Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Lakers and Raja Bell “will enter free agency with a strong mutual interest to reach agreement on a deal.” This would be a great fit for both teams: Kobe would love to snatch up as many of his antagonists as he could while Bell has said that, at this point in his career, he wants to be in a situation where he could win it all.
But after catching up with Bell at Steve Nash’s annual Showdown in Chinatown it appears that although Bell has a strong desire to win, he would like to do it on the East Coast — preferably in Miami. Read More »
While school is out for the summer, this doesn’t prevent the nation’s top-ranked high school recruits from playing competitively. Most top high school players are involved in the AAU summer circuit in order to keep themselves at the top of their games, and on July 31st, many of the best rising juniors and seniors will compete in a one-day showcase at Fordham University.

Longtime Nets President of Basketball Operations Rod Thorn announced he is stepping down on July 15. Thorn wants to guide the Nets through the beginning of the free-agent bonanza before stepping aside. Alright, we kept you waiting long enough. We read through all the entries for your favorite NBA Finals performance of all-time and picked two winners of the LRG “We Are The Champions” Playoff Pack.
The first winner, Marcus, gave a long and impassioned response about Tim Duncan’s performance in Game 6 of the 2003 Finals. TD put up 21-20-10-8 blocks. No big deal. Duncan never gets enough credit as a guy who puts up monster stats. Plus we feel good about giving it to Marcus, a die-hard Indiana Pacers fan who lives in Canada. That’s almost as weird as being a die-hard Raptors fan from Indiana. Read More »
With Allen Iverson‘s career winding down (or just wound down already), John Wall is set to be the new face of Reebok. (Check out his signature ZigTech Slash kicks.) Once upon a time, though, Shaq was the main guy at RBK — which unfortunately included THESE. But this ad was funny…
After two dreadful seasons and with $34 million reasons to come, it’s imperative the New York Knicks finish this summer with something. LeBron. DWade. Joe Johnson. Amar’e Stoudemire. Anyone will do, really. GM Donnie Walsh and head coach Mike D’Antoni have a lot of people.
But, Yahoo! Sports said New York could be in for a surprise:
“One prominent agent [said Sunday night]: ‘I think there’s a very good chance the Knicks will get shutout (in free agency)…Even likely…’”
