Based on more recent reports, the Bulls are the clear-cut favorites to land LeBron, and even if it’s not the Bulls, the Knicks’ chances are getting slimmer by the day. But the Knicks have not completely lost all hope Read More »
“Our industry is akin to a G.I. jumping out of a helicopter in Vietnam. We know what hill we want to take. We have an idea how we are going to get there. But, you need to rely on your platoon to get it done.”
Dallas Mavericks General Manager Donnie Nelson was never a general for the U.S. military, but he knows something about creating a winner. Sports Illustrated and Yahoo! Sports both rated him in the top three of NBA personnel bosses during recent articles and the Mavs have posted 10 consecutive 50-win seasons.
“I can’t sit here and tell you that there is this magical formula to win an NBA championship,” Nelson tells Dime. “Certainly, if you’ve got superstar players, it certainly helps and sometimes that can seal the deal. But, there are all kinds of different ways to do it.”

Nobody would have predicted this. It wasn’t really that long ago when Kobe Bryant and Tracy McGrady were neck-and-neck in the debate over who was the most talented player — Shaq and Tim Duncan were still the most dominant — and explosive offensive weapon in the NBA. Today, Kobe and T-Mac are both 31 years old, but while Kobe is still pretty much in his prime and leading his team to championships, T-Mac is like a classic car running on fumes and still hasn’t been on the court in the second round of the playoffs … Read More »
We know which teams have the money, and we know which players they want. The only intrigue left before LeBron, D-Wade, Amar’e, Bosh, Joe and the rest actually put pen to paper is how they’ll be recruited. LeBron’s camp has already said they’re not going on a cross-country tour, that they’ll meet with teams at a “neutral site.” (Not that anyone will complain: The Knicks would swim through 500 yards of sh*t-smelling foulness to get LeBron.) … As for D-Wade and Bosh, reports yesterday said they will travel to New York to visit with the Knicks. Meanwhile, LeBron is going to hear pitches from the Cavs, Nets, Heat, Bulls, Clippers and Knicks. Read More »
While the Wizards are still introducing their new franchise point guard (John Wall) and figuring out what to do with their old one (Gilbert Arenas), the team’s power forward of the future just suffered a major setback. Andray Blatche broke his left foot earlier this week, and following surgery yesterday is expected to miss about three months. Coming off his breakout half-season — the Antawn Jamison trade opened up a starting spot, where Blatche averaged 20 and 8 boards down the stretch — this was arguably the biggest summer of Blatche’s career. Props to Jay Bilas. Not only was his NBA Draft commentary on point last night, but he was correct in calling this the “best dressed Draft class” in recent memory. John Wall’s suit was clean, Xavier Henry rocked a fresh green shirt and tie combo, and Sacramento Kings big man DeMarcus Cousins predicted the future in his dope purple threads. And while we can’t really criticize any draft pick’s attire last night (aside from Wes Johnson’s pants), there’s one thing that stood out to us after carefully watching each and every draft pick take the stage: Patrick Patterson looks like a Muppet. Over a month ago, I posted the teaser trailer for Entourage‘s seventh season. And while that didn’t give away anything as to where the show was headed, the trailer below does. As I said before, Entourage is one of my favorite shows on television and one of the best things about summer. If you missed last season, I also included a recap to get you up-to-date after the jump.
Thursday morning I woke up at 5:30 AM to start my quest for NBA Draft tickets. I took the 6:17 train from Basking Ridge, New Jersey bound for New York Penn Station. The train arrived at 7:26 after which I picked up some breakfast before getting in line at 7:45 outside the Madison Square Garden Box Office waiting for the tickets to go on sale at 11:00 AM.
