NBA Rumor: Larry Hughes To Heat, Lakers, Celtics Or Bobcats

Larry Hughes

Remember when Larry Hughes signed a five-year, $70 million contract with the Cavs to provide to play Robin to the Batman of LeBron James? Well, that didn’t really work out. But maybe now he can be the Casey Jones to somebody’s Ninja Turtles. According to Bill Ingram at HOOPSWORLD, Hughes has reportedly narrowed his team search down to the Heat, Lakers, Celtics and Bobcats. Three shots at a ring, and one shot at significant playing time. The Price Of An NBA Championship: $2.1 Million

James Jones

Pat Riley continues to use his Jedi powers in South Beach, because things are getting kind of ridiculous. To free up money to sign Mike Miller and re-sign Udonis Haslem, three weeks ago James Jones took a $1.6 million buyout instead of opting for the $4.7 million he was originally set to make this season. Now, he has signed back on at the veterans’ minimum of $1 million for this season. For Jones’ sake, I hope that potential championship ring is worth $2.1 million. Read More »

NBA Rumor: Flip Murray To Cavs, Bulls Or Clippers

Flip Murray

What do you do if you’ve played for eight NBA teams in eight NBA seasons? Try and find some consistency. And that’s exactly what Flip Murray is doing. After spending part of the 2005-06 season with the Cavs, a time where he averaged a career-best 13.5 points per game during his 28 games there, Murray may return to Cleveland. That is, if he doesn’t decide to head to L.A. or stay in Chicago. Read More »

The New Raptors

DeMar DeRozan

We’re not predicting playoffs of anything, but the Toronto Raptors might not be as tragic as you would’ve thought in the post-Chris Bosh era. Clearly the eyes are on the future, and T-Dot has a nice young nucleus with Andrea Bargnani, DeMar DeRozan, Ed Davis and Sonny Weems. (And maybe Amir Johnson.) DeRozan and Weems had a little Vince/T-Mac vibe going at the Vegas Summer League, Davis has also shown potential going against pros, and Bargnani is coming off a season where he averaged 17 points and got some experience as the No. 1 option in meaningful games when Bosh was hurt. Chicago Has a Bulls-Eye on the East Contenders

D-Rose covers Dime #50

With all the focus surrounding the “Big Three” of the Miami Heat, the Chicago Bulls and their revamped roster seem to have slipped in under the radar.

After a 41-41 finish in the regular season, the Bulls made the playoffs for the fifth time in six years. As the 8th seed in the East, they were eventually sent packing by LeBron James and the No. 1-seeded Cavaliers. Read More »

“Game Time” Rules The Red Bull Revolution in Boston

Red Bull Boston Game Time

This past Saturday in Boston, the Back Bay Fens played host to Red Bull’s first ever 2-on-2 Revolution Tour stop, where only one team would distinguish themselves as Boston’s best. As 32 local teams poured into the park in the morning, players began stretching out, taking practice jumpers and doing everything in their power to prepare themselves for the long day of physical basketball in the blistering summer heat that lay ahead. In the end, Game Time, a duo comprised of 28-year-old Jared Hite and 23-year-old Rob Adams, took home the championship and a $2,000 prize.

The road to the ‘chip was a brutal one. Read More »

The NBA All-Tattoo Team

LeBron’s Dilemma: To Be or Not To Be Jordan

LeBron James

You may have heard about Michael Jordan’s recent comments regarding LeBron James and what went down in Miami. But if you stepped out of hoop reality for a second, let me fill you in: “There’s no way, with hindsight, I would’ve ever called up Larry, called up Magic and said, ‘Hey, look, let’s get together and play on one team,’ ” Jordan declared at a golf tournament in Nevada over the weekend.

Jordan went on to add that times are different. Whether that’s good or bad, he doesn’t know. Read More »

O.J. Mayo Wants a New Handle: PG

O.J. Mayo

2010, the age of insecurity.

All this posturing going on can’t kick the fact that for everyone out there dropping how much “swag” they have, in reality, they probably don’t have much at all. In the NBA, it’s more apparent than ever. People don’t want to be coached and aren’t willing to have their faults uncovered in front of the world.

Too much ass-kissing.

Circumstances aside, the last person who should be clamoring for some offseason coaching is O.J. Mayo. Read More »
