Rajon Rondo, Blake Griffin the next candidates for Team USA

Rajon Rondo

NBA stars are dropping off of Team USA left and right. This week it was confirmed that none of the ’08 Olympic team members will participate in this summer’s World Championship, and other players in the USA Basketball program like Kendrick Perkins and LaMarcus Aldridge have recently pulled out due to legit injuries and apparent apathy.

With plenty of holes to fill for the red, white and blue, next week’s training camp in Las Vegas will be crucial. Two players whose names have been tossed around as replacements who haven’t yet been part of the USA program are Rajon Rondo and Blake Griffin. Read More »

NBA Rumor: Detroit Pistons moving to Las Vegas

Rodney Stuckey

An NBA team in Las Vegas? This is obviously not breaking news, as the proposal has been tossed around since 2007, but reportedly it is very possible in the very near future. According to the Oakland Press: “An investment group wants to bring an NBA team to Las Vegas … The group, International Development Management LLC, said it’s close to purchasing an NBA team to play in its proposed arena … The ‘deal’ has a lot of loopholes to clear. The investment group must first strike a deal with the county to fund construction of its proposed arena … Chris Milam, CEO of International, told the Las Vegas Sun the group has a team “under contract.” Read More »

Orlando Is Building A Squad To Beat The Heat

Dwight Howard

Lost amongst all of the Sports Illustrated covers, ESPY interviews and polls proclaiming the Heat to be nothing short of sensational, the best team in Florida could still be the Orlando Magic. For them, this summer was more about curtailing roster losses and keeping their core together. With two straight trips to the Eastern Conference Finals, Dwight Howard & Co. have the foundation to contend for years. Read More »

With free agency starting to slow down, I took a look back on some of the contracts handed out to marginal NBA players this summer and was shocked. After much thought, here are the 10 worst contracts handed out in the NBA since 2000: Read More »

NBA Rumor: Shannon Brown To Re-Sign With The Lakers

Shannon Brown thought he was pretty smart. After winning back-to-back rings with the Lakers, he decided to opt-out of the final year of his two-year, $4.139-million contract (leaving $2.149 million on the table) and test the free agent waters. But just like Nate Robinson last summer, it appears no one was looking to Let Shannon Dunk on their squad. Despite Kobe Bryant wanting to bury the hatchet and grab Raja Bell for the Lakers, it appears Brown has moved closer to re-signing with Los Angeles. Read More »

Cleveland Have-Nots

LeBron James

This whole “Win a championship before LeBron” thing isn’t going so well for the Cavs. Even when Cleveland has guys that want to sign, they’re losing them. Yesterday restricted free agent Kyle Lowry inked a four-year, $24 million offer sheet with the Cavs, but before the day was out, Houston matched it. That was right after Cleveland fell out of the running for Al Jefferson and missed out on free agent Josh Childress. From last year’s 61-win squad they’ve already lost LeBron and Big Z, Shaq isn’t coming back, and Delonte West might be wearing all-orange and cheap flip-flops before he’ll wear a Cavs jersey again … So how good can Cleveland be next season?
