After trying to pry away Chris Paul from the Hornets, the Cavs appear to be grasping at straws right now. With the threat of a complete basketball/economic collapse upon them, numerous sources are reporting that Cleveland is in trade talks with Minnesota for point guard Jonny Flynn. While Flynn is represented by LeBron’s marketing company (LRMR), the two don’t have the same agent. Is Flynn good enough to sway LeBron’s decision? Don’t think so. Read More »

The newest Chicago Bull, Carlos Boozer, told a source of mine earlier today that LeBron James is “50 percent Miami, 50 percent New York.”
Obviously everybody has their opinions and guesses on what LeBron will announce later tonight, but as one of the prime free agents on the market this summer and LeBron’s former teammate in Cleveland and on two U.S. Olympic teams, Boozer may be one of the few people who’s actually heard from LeBron himself leading up to the announcement. It appears the Nets have taken it personally that their name hasn’t surfaced in all these LeBron rumors today, and gone out and signed their own small forward: Travis Outlaw. ESPN The Magazine‘s Ric Bucher is reporting that Outlaw has agreed to a five-year, $35 million deal with the Nets. I wonder when the banner outside the Garden is coming down. Read More »

What’s it like to feel unwanted? Ask Michael Beasley. Miami has been doing whatever they can to rid themselves of his contract for the past year or so, and no one seems to want him.
New Jersey wouldn’t take him for Keyon Dooling. Now, Toronto doesn’t want him either. Read More »

Last summer, Linas Kleiza bolted to Greece to play for Olympiakos on a two-year, $12.2 million contract with an opt-out after the season. Apparently he’s had enough souvlaki. Choosing to come back to the NBA for arguably less money, according to Marc Spears at Yahoo! Sports, Toronto has signed Kleiza to a four-year, $20 million offer sheet. Read More »

While the issue of whether the Big Three free agents will come together in Miami is going to be decided tonight, there is talk of another dynamic duo (at least if this was 2000) teaming up.
One day after I gave you his top five destinations, Shaquille O’Neal is now saying he wants to go to the San Antonio Spurs and team up with fellow Hall of Famer Tim Duncan. Read More »

“The Decision,” as LeBron James and ESPN are billing it, will be revealed during an hour-long presentation tonight beginning at 9 p.m. EST.
You could compare the LeBron event to a blown-up version of a high school recruit picking his college. Which makes sense: LeBron wasn’t too heavily recruited in high school, because back then every college coach knew he was going straight to the NBA. So for him, this is a fun part of the game he missed out on.
We decided to chat with some Class of 2010 high school stars, all of them now incoming college freshmen who — not too long ago — were in the same position LeBron is in now. Read More »

Only one thing was going to overshadow the eve of LeBron‘s big free-agency announcement: The No. 2 and No. 3 most coveted free agents in the 2010 class deciding to team up and take a crack at becoming the new Drexler and Hakeem. In case you missed it, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are committed to the Miami Heat — Wade presumably accepting a reported six-year, $125 million offer, while Bosh will either sign a deal outright or be part of a sign-and-trade with the Raptors … Read More »

Just when you thought Ray Allen was available to the highest bidder, think again. According to ESPN.com’s Marc Stein, Allen and the Celtics have agreed on a two-year, $20 million contract that includes a player option in the second year. Looks like Boston is going at it again. Read More »

After the Knicks inked Amar’e Stoudemire, it was pretty clear that they weren’t going to make another move until LeBron signed on someone’s dotted line. But while reports surfaced earlier in the week that the Warriors would have to give up Monta Ellis in order to acquire a big man, now it appears they don’t. And instead of David Lee ending up in Minnesota, he very well could end up in the Bay. Read More »
