The 5 Best Teams for Chris Paul

Chris Paul (photo. Zach Wolfe)

In just a matter of a few days, the prospect of Chris Paul being traded by the New Orleans Hornets turned from an “if” into a “when.”

For a couple of years rumors have been thrown around concerning a CP trade, mostly because the Hornets were struggling financially and CP was their most expensive player. But lately it’s been Paul driving the increased trade talk. Yesterday he reportedly told the team he wants to be dealt before the beginning of the season, and earlier today the team scheduled a Monday face-to-face meeting with its franchise superstar. New York City Playground Legend Gunning for $2,000 This Saturday

There aren’t many players signed up for Saturday’s Red Bull 2on2 Revolution Tour stop in New York City with a resume quite as impressive as that of Kenny “Serious Sat” Satterfield. The 29-year-old guard, who logged time in the NBA with the Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets and Philadelphia 76ers, has a well-deserved reputation in his hometown as a dominant force on the NYC streetball scene. Part of the reason he’s enjoyed so much success on both levels is simple: his game doesn’t change from hardwood to pavement. Read More »

Carmelo, Chris Paul and Amar’e looking closer to a reality

Carmelo Anthony

It took a few years, but we’re finally seeing the true impact of the Boston Celtics’ “Big Three” construction in 2007, when they brought in Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen to play alongside Paul Pierce. The three All-Stars won a championship in their first season together, ending any “He can’t win the big one” criticism surrounding them individually, and putting a certified Hall of Fame stamp on each of their careers.

While the C’s made their title run, younger NBA players who grew up watching KG, Ray and Pierce struggle to win as stand-alone superstars now saw them come together and finish the job. Read More »

One Man’s Trash is Another Man’s Treasure: The David Kahn Story

You can’t really blame David Kahn. Bad decisions are all he has ever known.

It started back when he was a sportswriter covering the Portland Trail Blazers for The Oregonian in the 1980s, when Kahn witnessed maybe the worst NBA Draft decision in history. After the Blazers took Sam Bowie with the second overall pick (ahead of Michael Jordan) in 1984, a penchant for horrible decisions had clearly been forever engraved in the young journalist. NBA Rumor: Clippers want A.I.

Andre Iguodala

The L.A. Clippers are looking to acquire A.I. No, not that one — they want the one who has put in work in Philadelphia. Err…

After we recently learned Tracy McGrady worked out for the Clippers’ brass, NBA reporter David Aldridge says that L.A. inquired about the Sixers’ Andre Iguodala: Read More »

From The Big East To The Playground, Dwight Brewington Still Gets Buckets

Dwight Brewington

There’s something about that sound, when ball meets net in the most beautiful of collisions, which separates the sport of basketball from all others. A hockey puck clanking off the post on a slapshot or a soccer ball silently curling its way into the top corner could never match the purity of resonance when a clean jumper finds the bottom of the net. If anyone should know that sound, it’s Dwight Brewington. Read More »

Milwaukee: Do the Right Thing for Michael Redd

Michael Redd

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from the Summer of LeBron, it’s that too many fans/media treat athletes like fantasy-roster chips and only view things from a pure basketball standpoint.

Not once in all the anti-LeBron (and now anti-Chris Paul) arguments have I heard a critic acknowledge the biggest human element at play: That maybe LeBron just wanted to leave Cleveland, and didn’t want to live in New York, or live in Chicago, and just really wanted to relocate his life to Miami. No basketball. No business. No legacy. Just a man and his family’s life. Read More »

Zydrunas Ilgauskas Leaves A Gaping Hole In Cleveland’s Heart

Zydrunas Ilgauskas

When I first heard the name Zydrunas Ilgauskas, I laughed. I was about nine years old at the time, and it didn’t really occur to me that people from different countries had names that didn’t sound like mine. But when I saw him play, I was impressed. He wasn’t just a big guy who ran around setting screens and missing opportunities at the rim. He could shoot, pass and above all else, wasn’t afraid to mix it up down low or stand up for his teammates. Read More »
