We Are Looking For Interns

It’s that time of year again: Dime Magazine and our sites (DimeMag.com, HouseOfHighlights.com and HighSchoolHoop.com) are looking for interns for the fall and winter semester. For all of you interested in eventually getting into the magazine and online journalism field, check the details after the jump.

Our interns will be placed in the Editorial departments and the duties will include working closely with editors and the publisher on projects ranging from story research and writing, to implementing marketing programs. We’re looking for students – or any other prospective journalists – who are willing to work hard, go the extra mile and most importantly, have the time to dedicate themselves to working with us. You are not required to be in New York City or be in the office. Work will be done electronically. But it will provide the knowledge and experience necessary for learning the magazine business.

Interns interested in writing will have the opportunity to pitch stories and possibly contribute to the magazine. Candidates must be responsible, have strong writing skills, the ability to take initiative on projects, and be able to work under deadlines. Internships are unpaid, with academic credit preferred but not required.

If you love basketball, are self-motivated and willing, e-mail us HERE to receive more information about an internship today. Please provide us with at least two writing samples of your best feature or column work.

Better believe I’m applying for this.

  • http://www.haywoodplanning.com D.H.

A good intern would already have an article up about Tyreke Evans getting arrested a gun point in Cali for dangerous and reckless driving. This same intern would probably have a link to the video floating around the internet. A great intern would have broken the story, but those ones get hired by ESPN.

An even better intern would do his research and know that this happened a few days ago…

@D.H. — The arrest was actually over the Memorial Day weekend. And here’s your video:

  • Sam I Am

    @ D.H.

I don’t know if you are trying to imply you’re a good intern or not,

but they did make mention of it in an edition of SMACK a while ago…

NOT ONLY THAT, but a good intern would’ve seen the date on the video linking it to May (Memorial Day weekend), not a few days ago

  • Sam I Am

    @ AB

maybe you can hire me as your back up to these posers who like to talk SMACK!

tag team like the Dudley Boys (GET THE TABLES!)

  • http://dimemag.com Austin Burton

LOL at the Dudley Boys. It always bothered a little how Bubba was constantly ordering D-Von around.

Nothing was better than the APA Protection. Farouq and Bradshaw. LOL

  • http://dimemag.com Austin Burton

I remember when the APA f’d up Perry Saturn for real. Supposedly Saturn got too rough with a rookie wrestler during a match, so the kangaroo court sent the APA out during Saturn’s next match to get rough with him. Saturn knew they were supposed to come out during his match to interrupt, but he didn’t know their intent was to give him a real concussion.

Let me know when you get offices in Chicago.

Also, I was a big DEMOLITION fan growing up. Axe and Smash! lol. best tag team finishing move back then.

Also I’d like to point out that D.H. should prolly just KILL himself cause you look like a complete f^king jagaloon. lmao.

And why did the cops pull a gun on Tyreke. Also, why didn’t they follow the Gray Challenger that was leading the 100mph fiasco at the begining….almost as if it was a “set up”.

i’ll for sure will be applying for this interships.

  • Celticsdada

    Why not ALF????

  • D.I. Dollar

Some office work is required, but it will all provide knowledge and experiences necessary to learning the magazine business.

A good intern would correct grammar and spelling mistakes, bith them appearing so regularly on the site…I would want to be paid. It’d be too much work covering your dumb asses for free.

  • D.I. Dollar

    *but with

I knew that shit was going to happen. That’s what you get for trying to be a smart ass.

  • Al Day

Damn.. The only requirement I don’t meet is living in NY.

  • bobby stew

I’ll move to NY if I get this internship.

  • Flying_Aussie_Dutchman

    @ Celticsdada

LOL Alf! :P What number we up to?

  • OneZero

    pick me pick me! lol

    yeah where is Alf

  • Heckler

what about opportunities to join Dime for non-internship positions?

  • Marcus

Damnit! too bad I live in Canada. F***

  • alf (from melmak)

Thanks for the support fellas. But like Dime said, they are looking for interns.

I am giving Dime reasons to hire me as one of its regular writers. Not after being an intern. I believe Dime already knows (hopefully) that I have already been through that route and that I have a lot more to offer them.

  • muteant

um, you do realize that it is ILLEGAL to hire interns not working for college credit if their work in any way benefits your operation, right?

  • muteant

unless you pay them, that is.

  • Amos

Wish y’all had something in the Philadelphia area.

  • Young C

How old do you have to be?
    @Amos, I agree.

  • Dough

When should we expect an email reply back?
