We Reminisce: Karl Malone drops 50 on Seattle in the playoffs
I honestly don’t even remember this game. But as a Sonics fan, maybe I blocked it from my memory. In the first round of the 2000 playoffs, Karl Malone dumped 50 points on Seattle in Game 1 of the series (18-32 FG, 13-14 FT) to go with 12 boards and 3 steals. I wish I could tell you why Lazaro Borrell was starting at PF that night for us and Vin Baker came off the bench, but I doubt it would have made a difference who guarded The Mailman on this night.

yeah, how old was Pippen last time he scored 40? malone is almost 40 here and drops 50. (yet Malone is regarded by some to be the lesser player — put karl and jordan on the same team and they win 9 rings at least)
malone evolved his game. maybe you were too young to see him play in the 80s, when he was dunking it on kareem in the playoffs. he was a post up player in his 20s.

ah. The real home of the nba on NBC with John Tesh music. I hope they get the league back in 2016. Oh and Bob Costas was a good commentator. He’s not a good “narrator” because he’s broadcasting basketball not reading a childrens book

How could you not respect Karl Malone & Stockton’s game? As much as you hated them growing up, they were always on point. Did anyone else notice how well the ball moved? Always a quick hit to the open man.
